Nobody warns you about this part.
You start waking up... and the people you thought would be there forever start drifting away. Some leave quietly. Some make it ugly.
Either way, the loneliness hits different when you can't explain why it's happening.
You're not crazy. You're not too much, you just got there first.
If you're carrying this right now and nobody around you gets it...I do. I've sat with a lot of people in exactly this place.
This article was incredibly easy to write, as if it was done by automatic writing. I had to unfriend my best friend since we were 6 years old around 2013 bc he was ridiculing my posts and the people who were commenting on them. I asked him in private not to do so, but he continued. It was at that point that I realized that we're on separate paths. I included in this article "Reason, Season, or Lifetime". Tom was a long season full of amazing memories and a ton of laughter, but it was time to part ways. I wrote this article immediately after unfriending him, so you know this comes from the heart of a man who experienced this.
If he ever needs me, I'll always be there for him.
