Movement Monday: 5 Subtle Signs Your Child May Benefit From PT
As the year wraps up, it’s a great time to check in on how your child is moving, playing, and keeping up with everyday activities. Many parents don’t realize these small signs can be related to strength, balance, or motor development:
1️⃣ Avoiding floor play or tummy time
Sometimes kids avoid positions that require more strength, stability, or effort.
2️⃣ Skipping crawling or using an unusual crawl pattern
Such as scooting, army-only crawling, asymmetrical crawling, or pushing with one leg.
These can be early signs of strength or coordination differences.
3️⃣ Frequent falls, tripping, or “clumsy” movement
Struggling to keep up with peers or running into things more than expected.
4️⃣ W-sitting or relying on wide sitting for stability
Often a sign of core weakness or difficulty with balance.
5️⃣ Fatigue during play
Needing to sit or lie down quickly, avoiding stairs, or choosing seated activities instead of active play.
🌟 Pediatric PT can help kids build strength, balance, confidence, and coordination, making everyday play easier and more joyful.
