Pause and ask yourself that question.

Not what’s the most productive thing.
Not what will make everyone else comfortable.
Not what looks good on paper.

What is the kindest thing you can do for you today?

Sometimes it’s rest.
Sometimes it’s a boundary.
Sometimes it’s sending the hard text.
Sometimes it’s doing nothing at all.

Kindness toward yourself isn’t indulgent, it's a necessity.

You are not required to tolerate disrespect.
You are not required to be happy 24/7.
You are not required to run yourself into the ground to prove you care.
And you are not weak for needing support.

Boundaries aren’t selfish. Rest isn’t lazy. Asking for help isn’t failure.

Some people will try to make you feel guilty for protecting your peace, especially if they benefited from you overextending yourself. That doesn’t mean you’re wrong. It means you’re growing.

Taking care of yourself is not a betrayal of anyone else. It’s accountability to your own well-being.

You don’t have to fake strength. Real strength looks like honesty, limits, and choosing yourself when it matters. 💜 🧡

We hear “fight or flight” all the time. But trauma can show up in four main ways: fight, flight, freeze, and fawn. Patterns your body learned to try to keep you safe.

1️⃣ Fight can look like being on edge, easily irritated, or feeling like you always have to defend yourself.
2️⃣ Flight can look like staying busy, avoiding hard conversations, or always needing to “handle it” on your own.
3️⃣ Freeze can feel like shutting down, going numb, or not knowing what to say when things get intense.
4️⃣ Fawn can look like overextending yourself, keeping the peace at your own expense, or feeling responsible for everyone else’s feelings.

Keep in mind that it doesn’t look the same for everyone. Your nervous system responds based on what you’ve lived through. There’s no one-size-fits-all version of trauma.

If any of this resonates, you don’t have to figure it out by yourself. Working with a trauma-informed therapist can help you understand your patterns and build new ones that feel safer and more aligned.
