🌿☀️ Tick season is here, which means more outdoor fun and a few extra things to watch for!

Ticks can look like tiny black dots, so it’s easy to miss them but a quick daily check (head to toe!) after outdoor play can make a big difference.

If you do find one, don’t panic 👍
✔️ Use tweezers
✔️ Pull straight out (no twisting!)
✔️ Clean the area

The good news? Most tick bites are harmless, but keep an eye out for symptoms like fever, fatigue, or a “bullseye” rash and give us a call if you’re concerned.

💡 Pro tip: Long sleeves, pants, and checking pets can help keep ticks out of your home, too!

Stay safe, enjoy the outdoors, and as always, we’re here if you need us 💙

Healthy kids = happy kids 💛

A lot can change in a year, that’s why annual physicals are so important. Yearly wellness visits help track your child’s growth and development, keep immunizations up to date, and catch potential concerns early.

Even if your child feels perfectly healthy, these visits are key to supporting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being all year long. 👧

With summer right around the corner, now’s a great time to check this off your list! Schedule your child’s annual physical with us today! 📞 (301) 585-9600

College decisions can bring a mix of emotions, for teens and parents alike. 💙

If your teen is facing a college rejection, it’s important to remember that disappointment is real and valid. Listening with empathy, supporting their feelings, and helping them refocus on next steps can make a big difference in building resilience and confidence.

This helpful article from Children’s National shares practical ways to support your teen during this challenging time and guide them forward.

🌼🤧 Allergies or a Cold? How to Tell the Difference! 🤒🌼

Sniffles, sneezing, and congestion—sound familiar? It can be tough to know if your child has seasonal allergies or just a common cold!

👀 Here are a few helpful clues:
✨ Itchy eyes/nose? More likely allergies
🌡️ Fever or body aches? Probably a cold
📅 Symptoms lasting weeks? Think allergies
🦠 Symptoms gone in ~7–10 days? Likely a cold

Understanding the difference can help you choose the right care and keep your child feeling their best 💙

🌸

It’s sometimes difficult to know whether the problem is seasonal allergies or "hay fever" vs a common cold (upper respiratory infection). The diagnosis is often made when parents seek their pediatrician’s advice for a lingering “cold” that their child can’t shake. Learn more here.
