I walked into Barnes and Noble today with my left hand bandaged up and pushing a stroller with my right hand.
I was surprised that there was no automatic (accessible) door from the parking lot into the store.
When I asked why, I was told that they weren't required to have an automatic door, since the mall entrance is accessible.
Well, as an OT working in accessibility, that lights my fire!!
Those doors are heavy and there is a double set! It is a high traffic entrance to the mall and should be universally accessible, meaning everyone should have ease of use no matter their ability, disability or number of kids in the stroller. It is a relatively inexpensive and easy to install fix as well!
I called corporate to complain. You should too! It took about 3 minutes of my time.
Let's get this fixed!!
