Dear Patients,

We at Northwest Family Medicine have had the privilege of caring for members of our community since September of 1991. Sarah, Rob and I consider it an honor that you have entrusted your healthcare to us over the years. We have gotten to know many of you personally and you have impacted our lives in significant and meaningful ways. We want to thank you for putting your trust in us. Our dream has been to practice in a small caring community and that has been a reality for 31 years. I hope you feel we have served you well.

Sarah, Rob, and I are excited for the future and very nostalgic as we plan the beginning of a new season in our lives. December 23, 2022 is to be our last day practicing medicine at Northwest Family Medicine. Rob will be moving to practice at Kaiser Permanente, in Keizer, while Sarah and I will retire. We made efforts to transition Northwest Family Medicine to new ownership but those efforts were not fruitful. This transition will be difficult for all of us, and the decision has not been made quickly or without significant prayer and consideration. We have had discussions with Legacy Health Silverton and they are willing to accept patients desiring to find care in our area. Northwest Family Medicine is a private Family Practice clinic that is a PCPCH Tier 5 facility located in Silverton, Oregon. We are currently looking for a front office employee with knowledge of NextGen to join our team. Our practice is a well-established and successful facility with three Family Practice providers. Our goal is to provide excellent quality care to our patients.
This position involves:
Front office duties:
• Answering and directing phone calls
• Managing referrals/authorizations
• Documenting messages in EHR
• Patient check-in/checkout
Requirements for this position:
• Ability to work independently as well as an active team member
• Strong computer skills
• Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record software (NextGen knowledge a bonus!)
• Accurate and precise attention to detail
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently
Position will be full-time with mainly 4 days per week. Some weeks will be more days to cover other employee’s vacation, sick time, etc. Benefits included. Compensation depends on experience.

Attention to our patients!

There is a growing outbreak of measles in nearby Clark County. The number of confirmed cases continues to increase and is now up to 23 thus far; 20 are unvaccinated, while the other 3 cases have unconfirmed vaccination records.
Measles can cause blindness, seizures, meningitis, and can cause devastating birth defects if a pregnant mother contracts the disease.

A single dose of the MMR vaccine, the first typically given at 12 months, is 90% effective in preventing measles. The vaccine starts becoming effective within 10-14 days. The second dose given between ages 4 and 5 years proves 97%-99% effective in preventing measles.

Unfortunately, this outbreak is likely to continue to spread. We encourage you to please contact our office or your pharmacy to get vaccinated if you are not already.

VANCOUVER, WA (KPTV) – The measles outbreak just keeps growing, now at 23 confirmed cases and two suspected cases.
