We don’t know when, but one day the end will come. Jesus who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords will fully reign over all. Because of this, though we grieve and hurt, we are not terrified. Because of this, as we lament and work to alleviate suffering, we are not terrified.

Our worship as Episcopalians can sometimes be loud – organs, pianos, voices raised in hymns ancient and modern – but it also takes seriously. Whether before the service, or in the moments after taking communion, or through the murmurs of prayers, the stillness reminds us that “in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and confidence shall be our strength.”
