Yesterday we had a case of Pericoronitis🦷 and what is Pericoronitis? 🤔
Pericoronitis is an inflammation or swelling of your gum tissue. It’s more common in your lower teeth and it usually happens around your wisdom teeth, the third and final set of molars.
In addition to being uncomfortable, a gum flap over a partially erupted tooth is also susceptible to infection if not treated.
Treatments for pericoronitis include:
-Oral hygiene/oral irrigators and rinses
-Pain medicine
-Antibiotics
-Minor surgery
-Extraction
In this case a minor surgery was done to remove gum flap and prevent any further infection. 🦷🪥
