Today felt like late spring. It was about 70°. I went for a walk and was warm in a tank top even with the snow.
I fell down a snow bank trying to take a picture of skunk cabbage. I did get the picture!
A bald eagle and 2 hawks circled above me.
My feet and pants were soaking wet after i climbed out.
When I got home I put my chair outside on the part of my deck that was clear of snow. I ate lunch outside and walked barefoot on the dry grass.
Warm sunny days lift my energy and mood. Everything seems alive. I’m denying the fact that temperatures are going to drop on Thursday and it will be back down to the 20’s within a week. 😩
Does warmth and sunshine lift your energy? Bring optimism?

🕊️ Today is the first day of Lent.

🥤 I remember seeing people with ash on their foreheads when I was a kid. I remember classmates talking about what they were “giving up” — chocolate, soda, fast food. Things enjoyable, but not essential. It always felt surface to me. I didn’t really understand it, and I wasn’t raised Catholic, even though my grandparents and great-grandparents and past generations were Catholic and folk Catholic. My journey with organized religion both began and ended the day I was christened.

📿 Now, as a folk practitioner walking fully with my roots, I can’t separate the Catholic elements from the work. They’re woven into the lineage. But what appears on the surface — Mary, the saints, the rosary — isn’t always what’s actually happening underneath.
When you get down to the bones of it, Lent is a threshold.

🚪 We’re at the edge of winter, leaning toward spring. One cycle closing. Another preparing to open. And thresholds are liminal spaces — places where the veil thins, where reflection is natural, where what’s hidden can be seen more clearly.

🕯️ Lent, to me, is less about denial and more about refinement. It’s a time to sit with the ancestors. To look honestly at what’s been buried. To let what needs light receive it. It’s both physical and spiritual clearing.

🥗 I’ll be eating lighter — letting go of foods that make my body feel heavy or inflamed. Not as punishment, but as release. I’ll be choosing quiet more often. Stepping back from the constant noise.

🏎️ Everything around us moves fast. Always more, always louder. But there is power in sitting at the threshold. In not rushing the shift. In allowing the transition to do its work.
If you’re feeling called into this season, here’s something to sit with:

📝 Journal prompt: What feels ready to be released as this season shifts — and what part of you is asking for more light?

Bones, Guidance, Ceremony, Healing

Indawo (Evernia) experienced her first spirit visitation at age 3. From then on, her connection to the other side has continued to grow. As a child, she loved to spend time in nature and worked with the animals and trees, creating magick. She has always been connected and walked in the dreamworld, intuitively creating rituals and medicines even before she knew what they were. She is a born psychic, medium, and sangoma (currently a thwasa, student and apprentice.) She received her calling from the Ancestors almost 30 years ago, but not understanding that she was being called and with no support or guidance she descended into the belief that she was broken and created the identity to match that belief. Years later as she began to break free she began studying healing modalities and thought systems from around the world, learning, evolving, and coming to wholeness. The Ancestors called her again, this time they brought her teacher. Her name revealed by the ancestors is Indawo yamaThuna Mathambo.

Indawo (Evernia) is trained and certified in numerous energy healing modalities and is a Reiki Master, Life Coach, Spiritual Counselor, initiated witch in a closed occult order, and an ordained Metaphysical Minister. She is currently a thwasa, on the initiation journey to awaken as samgoma.

She incorporates tarot, bones (bones, curios, and ancestral trinkets), and direct messages from guides and spirits to bring guidance and deep insight into your life. Indawo (Evernia) performs divination and counseling as well as spiritual cleansings, energy healings, and ceremonies.
