Last night, McLean Hospice hosted the annual Lights of Hope service of remembrance, to honor and celebrate people in our care in 2025. Family members shared treasured memories of their loved ones during a moving service that included inspirational music, readings of reflection, a candle-lighting ceremony, and the reading of individuals’ names. You can learn more about McLean Hospice on the McLean website at www.McLeanCare.org or by calling 860-658-3954.

April is National Volunteer Month! McLean is so fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers. We’re grateful to them all! Each week this month, we’re spotlighting one of our volunteers. Interested in volunteering at McLean? Call 860-658-3941 or email Ann.Pavano@McLeanCare.org.

Linda has volunteered with McLean Hospice for over 16 years. Here's what she has to say about why she volunteers:

"I believe even the quietest moments, offering companionship, listening, or simply being present, can bring profound comfort to a patient. Over 16 years of hospice volunteering, I’ve met remarkable individuals whose stories I carry with gratitude, and I’ve learned as much from them as I hope they gained from me. Kindness, patience, and presence matter most — sometimes just being there is the greatest gift we can offer. "

We couldn't agree more, Linda! Thank you for your service to our Hospice program.

McLean resident and Game Refuge campaign member and donor, Martha Murray, is a devoted advocate for animals and nature. The bench she donated was just installed in the Game Refuge’s picnic grove, for all who pass by to enjoy. The bench was made by local artisans from wood from the Game Refuge, making it an especially fitting gift. Thank you, Martha, for your continued support of McLean!
