Kathleen Kline

Kathleen “Kathy” Kline (née Gilliams), of Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 13, 2026.

Born on February 20, 1947, in Reading, Pennsylvania, Kathy was a lifelong resident of the area and remained closely connected to the community she called home.

She was married to her husband, David W. Kline Jr., who preceded her in death on August 8, 2013. They were high school sweethearts and married on October 7 as young newlyweds, beginning their life together. Just weeks later, on October 26, David was drafted into the Vietnam War.

Kathy is survived by her 2 brother Kevin Gilliams and Kerry Gilliams, her children, Janell Hoffmaster (Brian), Christopher Kline, and Jennifer Kinder; and her grandchildren, Tyler Kinder, Bradley Hoffmaster, Nicolas Kline, Gaige Kinder, CJ Kline, and Emily Hoffmaster.

Her grandchildren meant the world to her. She shared a special bond with her grandchildren, and her presence meant something unique to each of them. She found deep happiness in simply being with them and watching them grow.

She worked for the Reading School District, beginning as a lunch aide, where she was known and loved, and later as a teacher’s assistant in special education. She brought patience and a quiet steadiness to her work, offering care and consistency to the children she supported in ways that left a lasting impression.

Kathy found meaning in caring for others. She expressed that through the meals she prepared, the baking she shared, and the small, thoughtful gestures she gave without needing recognition. Her home was a place where people felt comfortable and cared for.

She enjoyed crocheting, doing puzzles, and was an avid reader. She found peace at her favorite place, Bethany Beach. She was a die-hard Philadelphia Phillies fan and absolutely loved Billy Joel and The Phantom of the Opera. She often sang along to her favorite songs and enjoyed bus trips to New York City to see The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway.

She will be remembered for her kindhearted nature, her thoughtfulness, and the steady way she showed up for the people in her life. She had a quiet presence that brought comfort and a sense of ease to those around her.

She is also remembered by her beloved dog, Taffy, who brought her companionship and comfort.

In accordance with her wishes, no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Diabetes Association

Bean Funeral Homes and Crematory traces its roots back to the 1940s. In 1946, Robert E. and Jacqueline D. Bean moved to Reading from Lebanon County. Robert quickly found his first job as a funeral director but was soon drafted to serve in the Korean War. After serving as an Artillery Sergeant, Robert returned to Reading only to find that his job had been taken by someone else. That’s when he and Jacqueline decided to open their own funeral home. In December 1955, they founded the first Bean Funeral Home in Berks County. For over 70 years, the Bean family has carried on their legacy by proudly serving families in and around Reading.

Michael S. Dysart

Michael Steven Dysart went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 7th, 2026, at the age of 69 years. Born in Louisville, Kentucky, on July 18th, 1956, he was the son of the late Stanley Harrison Dysart, Jr., and the late Evelyn Dysart Badmagharian. Michael, or “Mike,” met the love of his life, Jan Marie, at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and they were blessed with 41 years of marriage. She walked into their class with, as he put it, “hair of gold,” and he knew he had to meet her. As the operator of their college phone line, Mike convinced his future wife to date him when she called into the boys' dormitory to speak to someone else. He was convincing, and they married three years later.

Mike and Jan spent their lives making people feel welcome. Their home was always a place of respite for kids in the neighborhood or just friends who wanted to chat. It was Michael’s specialty: talking with people and making them smile. During his time at Southwestern, he obtained a Master of Divinity and a Master of Church History. Mike served as a chaplain, and then a pastor, for ten years. In these roles, he combined his love for the Lord with his gift of making others feel welcome, helping them grow in their faith. Most recently, he spent the last few years in the insurance industry, using his gift for connection to help others in times of need.

Michael and Jan loved to travel. Their passion for exploring new places was rivaled only by their shared love of cycling. Michael loved to find new experiences and share them with his family. Through photos and videos, he constantly documented his life to include his family in how he felt about every important moment. From pictures of a good meal his wife was making that day to a beautiful sunset, he couldn’t help but share his joys with everyone.

In everything, he loved his family. His passion for making his wife feel special, his daughters feel seen, and his grandchildren feel loved was one of the many things that made Mike the amazing husband, father, and grandfather he was.

Michael will forever be remembered by his wife, Jan Marie Dysart; his daughters, Jennifer Dysart Winston (Jesse) and Katie Lauren McCullough (Jonathan); and his grandchildren, Eliana Marie Winston, Jonathan Wesley McCullough IV, and Levi Harrison McCullough.

Michael was the third of four siblings. His older brother, Stanley Dysart III, went to be with the Lord in September 2024. He is survived by his sister, Katherine Lawson (Jeffrey), and his brother, John Dysart (Yvette).

Funeral Service will be held at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church 4891 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring, Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 11:00 am. Pastor Wayne Rissmiller will officiate. Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery. The family will receive relatives and friends at Calvary Bible Fellowship Church Tuesday from 9:45 am to 10:45 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy House, a charity that provides support and housing to pregnant women in need, at www.mercyhouse.org. Bean Funeral Home, 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring is in charge of arrangements and online condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com
