Elaine R. Egan

Elaine R. Egan, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 3, 2026, at Mifflin Court. Born on January 12, 1942, in Reading, PA, Elaine spent her life cultivating deep connections with her family and friends, offering unwavering support and love.

Elaine was deeply devoted to her family. As a mother, she raised her children, Jeffrey L. Egan and Karen S. Rankin, with great care and compassion. Her son Jeffrey, along with his wife Donna L Egan, was a source of joy and laughter in Elaine’s life, reminding her of the beauty of family bonds. In her daughter Karen’s life, along with her husband Michael C. Rankin, she found immense pride and joy, knowing Karen carried forward the values she instilled in her. Elaine's legacy will continue through her beloved grandchildren, Ashley Alvarez (wife of Jezek Alvarez), Tyler Egan (husband of Shannon Egan), and Josh Rankin (husband of Carley Rankin), who were fortunate to experience her nurturing spirit. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren, including Stella Alvarez, Ila Alvarez, Camden Egan, and Reece Rankin, each of whom drew inspiration and warmth from her presence.

As a sister and relative, Elaine's heart and home were open to her siblings: Virginia Bube and her husband Fred, Jeanette Stein and her husband George, Nancy Kramer and her husband Doug, and Sharon Madtes, along with her husband Don. Her bond with her half-brother Raymond Miller was also significant. Together, they shared memories and experiences that will forever be cherished.

Elaine’s passions extended beyond her family. She had a profound commitment to caring for others in need. Through kind words, encouraging cards, personal visits, and her delicious baked goods, she brightened the lives of many. Her love for gardening flourished alongside her love for baking, both of which were reflections of her nurturing spirit and her desire to provide for those she cared about.

Education was not just a formal endeavor for Elaine; it was woven into her everyday life as she served her Lord through acts of kindness and generosity. Elaine's remarkable life is a testament to the warmth of her spirit and the gentle strength she embodied.

The family will receive relatives and friends at Bean Funeral Home 3825 Penn Ave. Sinking Spring on Friday, March 6 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Reverend Dr. Brett J. Reider will officiate a service at 11:00 am. Graveside Service will be held at Bern Church Cemetery at 12:30 pm.

While Elaine R. Egan may have departed from this earthly realm, her compassionate heart and boundless love will continue to resonate within those who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind an enduring legacy of generosity, faith, and family love that will remain in the hearts of her loved ones forever.

Celestino Roman

Celestino “Babo” Roman, 77, of Kenhorst, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Sinking Spring Skilled Nursing and Rehab.

Born in Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Celestino Roman and Marcelina (Roman) Santiago. Babo was married to Rosetta (Lattanzio) Roman for over 58 years. Together they built a life and raised a family, sharing decades of memories along the way.

He retired from the City of Reading, where he worked as a master electrician, and also owned and operated B&B Alarms for many years. Outside of work, Babo loved gardening, hiking, fishing, and generally having a good time. He took pride in what he grew, enjoyed being on the water, and rarely passed up an opportunity to gather with others. He was the life of every party and had a way of filling a room—telling stories, laughing, and making fast friends with anyone nearby. He never hesitated to strike up a conversation and, before long, he’d know everyone’s name and have them smiling. More than anything, Babo loved his family and friends. He was proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and he treasured time spent with them—whether outdoors, at a celebration, or simply being together. His presence was big, his laughter unmistakable, and his love for those closest to him constant.

Babo is survived by his daughter, Frankie Lyn Sarangoulis, wife of Todd Sarangoulis, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; his son, Bryan Anthony Roman, of Kenhorst, Pennsylvania; his three grandsons, Andrew, Roman, and Niko; his two great-grandchildren, Leo and Cole; his siblings, Raymond Roman, Antonio Roman, Aida Rojos, Sara Roman, Norma Roman, and Lucy DiGuardi; many loving nieces and nephews; and countless friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Carlos Roman.

Babo will be remembered for his strength, his generous spirit, his love of the outdoors, the laughter he brought into every room, and the stories he left with us. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services for Babo will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Dementia Society of America. Bean Funeral Homes, Sinking Spring, has been entrusted with arrangements. Online guestbook and condolences may be made at www.beanfuneralhomes.com.
