Today's the day! Our A Night of Hope fundraiser starts this evening at 5:30pm at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sioux City North - Event Center. We'll have great food (from Aggies BBQ), great beverages (West O Brewing anyone?), a great program, a great Friend of STEMM recipient (CNOS, PC), and great Silent and Live Auction items! Beach, Mountain and Golf Vacation Packages, Jewelry (Greenberg's and Gunderson's), Art, a puppy, and more on our Live Auction -- and plenty of items on the Silent Auction, like spa baskets, wine baskets, whiskey and ci**rs, art, Indian Motorcyle gear, coolers, food (Chick-fil-A Sergeant Road (Sioux City, IA, Freddy's, Pickerman's, Cup O Joy, Coffee King, Palmer's Candy, Jolly Time), golf, and more. Wanted to update the STEMM family on the results of the May fundraiser. When we put it together, it was in response to a request by our village leaders to help with classroom overcrowding. They needed more space, not more teachers. We pledged to build a classroom per year to help. This was not a line item in our budget tho, so we had to figure out how to pay for it. Enter the May 30 fundraiser. Even on short notice, our supporters showed up and many who couldn’t attend, helped out. Thanks to cooperation between our STEMM Tanzania staff who provided excellent oversight , and the village who helped with the labor, we were able to create 5 new classrooms in the schools who needed them the most. Truly a partnership between the donors here in Siouxland and the recipients in Tanzania who provide labor with STEMM as the conduit. This is how it should work—Everyone contributes and the world becomes a little better. We are grateful!
