Michele Callahan has had fibromyalgia for years. She made many trips to see the doctor. In her family practice, she was seeing her third doctor as they come and go. Instead of trying a different medicine he suggested she have an MRI on her brain. When she got the results the next day Michele knew it probably wasn't good news. This happened in May of this year. She had a pituitary gland tumor in her brain the size of a quarter. She also had many lesions . She had many tests throughout the summer. Blood tests, CAT scans, more blood work. She pretty much stayed home all summer. Michele went to the eye doctor and found the tumor was pressing on both optic nerves. She was having problems reading, her favorite hobby. Finally on Sept. 1st, two surgeons removed her tumor. No visible scars. It was removed through her nose! After a couple of days she went home feeling fine. The tumor was benign. The next morning she ate one grape and almost immediately black stuff started pouring out of her mouth. She vomited all day. The hospital readmitted her. She couldn't eat at all. On the third day she started feeling better and went home. Much of her fibro symptoms are back. She has started falling down and has a hard time remembering things. Michele went back to the hospital (on her birthday) for a lumbar puncture (removing spinal fluid). It's been almost two weeks with no results yet. Had to go see an eye specialist and is now scheduled for cataract surgery on Oct 28 and Dec 5. Michele has not worked since June. No pay. She works in a high school with different students, different classes. It's going to be hard not being able to remember things. Michele has long term disability which will kick in in about FIVE months. We are not making it on just my disability. We are on the way down hill. We have many doctor, hospital, prescription bills plus the everyday stuff. Stress makes her life much more difficult. Having the money to pay these things will probably help her feel a little better. I just hope they don't find anything else wrong and do find answers to her problems.
