Take responsibility for your drinking. Whether you are ready to admit it or not, alcohol destroys your family, your life, and your future. Acceptance is the answer. Stop drinking today.

I'd like you to start (or continue) thinking about what happens when you keep everything inside. Where do the frustration and anger go? We all know what happens when the good times come. We smile, laugh and sometimes even cry with joy. But what about the bad times? What happens then? Where do all those feelings go?????

Men. Talk about your feelings. We, as a gender, are not unique. But, our gender has come to believe that we are somehow immune from the same set of rules that applies to our counterparts. WE ARE NOT! We need to stop being tough, acting macho, and inpatient. We need to swallow our pride, start asking for help, and STOP pushing people away. So, how to begin? Glad you asked. Step one: look in the mirror and ask yourself, "Who am I and who do I want to become?"

If you know, you know!!

Men. It is important to talk about our feelings. Most of us avoid this. This practice of keeping everything inside hurts us and it hurts those around us.

Start talking about how you feel. It's so important that I am going to keep on you all through a weekly posting to help you "get in touch." Stay tuned.

Do you know how to say NO?

Think of it. Saying no keeps you safe. It keeps you from spending too much money, it prevents you from kicking the dog, it can save you a lot of headaches. Saying no means you can respect your own personal boundaries and those of others. Setting limits is a SKILL.

We have to have boundaries in our lives. They keep good things in and bad things out. The fence in your yard does more than keep the neighbor kids from crossing your lawn on the way to school. It does more than keep your toy poodle from running away. Likewise, being able to say no keeps you safe and those that you care about safe.

More to come on why this is such an essential life skill.
