Do my bookish girlies relate?

Last year my word of the year was strength because I read all these badass books of tough women fighting injustice.

I was motivated by their training and strength.

This year I was gonna be more soft and present. Then the world is in chaos and im having to legit train in my basement for real life hunger games. Cool cool cool.

Life can feel like a lot right now.

If you’re anxious, overwhelmed, or holding it together on the outside while feeling fried on the inside, you’re not alone.

This space is for slowing down, regulating your nervous system, and getting support that doesn’t ask you to push harder or be more resilient.

Gentle support still counts. Small steps still matter.

If this resonates, you’re welcome here. 💛

p.s. don't forget to reach out if you are in Minnesota for the free therapy services for those impacted by ICE violence and terror.

Your voice matters.

Any small action you take- matters.

It all adds up and that’s why those in power benefit from us being exhausted, isolated, and hopeless.

Use whatever you got. It’s powerful.

If you’ve felt more anxious, distracted, tired, or checked out lately, you’re not broken. You’re paying attention.

One of my go to graphics I use with clients is the hierarchy of needs. The foundation is safety, housing, stability, and belonging. Only after those are met do we reach things like focus, achievement, purpose, and self fulfillment.

Political stress shakes that foundation. Safety. Rights. Access to care. Housing. Belonging. When those feel uncertain or under threat, your body responds exactly as it should. It moves into protection mode.

It makes sense if work feels harder. It makes sense if big goals feel far away. It makes sense if your nervous system is on edge or completely shut down. You can’t climb toward creativity, productivity, or meaning when the ground beneath you feels unstable.

This isn’t a personal resilience issue. It’s a systems issue. And your response is human.

If you’re needing more rest, more support, more boundaries, or smaller expectations right now, that’s not weakness. That’s human.

Your foundation feels shaken because it is. And you’re allowed to move at the pace of safety.

Save for when you need this gentle reminder.

Soft girl winter doesn’t mean checking out. You can be soft and strong. You can take care of yourself and others.

This is why it’s important to take care of our nervous system so we can stay engaged for the long haul.

This is your reminder that rest, boundaries, warmth, and small actions all count.

You don’t have to do everything. You just have to do something sustainable.

Save this for heavy days.

Share with someone who needs permission to slow down and still care. Then show up.

My heart has been so heavy for those in Minnesota. While it has been incredible to watch the community step up for each other, I am also aware of how horrific the conditions are right now.

People don't feel safe to leave their homes.

People are witnessing ICE terrorize, harrass, kidnap, and murder people.

People are spending all their time and energy doing what they can to support one another.

People are on high alert. Or numb. Or cycle between the two.

I want to offer support in a way that I can. I have space in my schedule for 2 pro bono (free) clients.

If you're a therapist in minnesota and you are showing up for your clients but you need a space for yourself. reach out.

If you are witnessing this violence in your community and notice your body is constantly tense or numb. reach out.

If you are an immigrant, I do not care about your legal status. You deserve safe, confidential care..

This type of therapy is built on safety planning, gaining control where you can, empowerment, community, validation.

It is first come first serve so please share! If you are interested, reach out for a free consult to make sure our schedules align and I would be a good fit.

You are not alone Minnesota.

New Shelf-Care with Alicia book review is up 📚

I just shared my thoughts on Democracy in Retrograde and I genuinely loved this one. It’s practical, relatable, and very grounded in the reality that people want to help their communities but do not have unlimited time, energy, or capacity.

What I appreciate most is how the book moves away from guilt and perfection and instead helps people find forms of action that actually make sense for their lives and values. It’s systemic. It’s empowering. And it feels doable.

If you’ve been wanting to engage with things you care about in a way that feels sustainable and aligned, this book is worth your time.

You can watch the full review on YouTube now. I’d love to hear what you think if you check it out.

I’ve been absent for a bit because I’ve been sick but I’m back and hoping for some community support.

I’m from Minnesota. And even though I currently live in South Dakota, my family, my heart, and home place are in Minneapolis .

I’ve been staying connected with friends, family, and clients about what’s actually happening in these communities. And it’s terrifying.

Ice is not making these communities safer. They’re racially profiling, taking legal citizens, hurting bystanders, and escalating interactions to justify their extreme violence.

The Minnesota community has stepped up. They’re helping their immigrant neighbors and businesses. They’re helping others who are scared to leave their houses in fear of being attacked. They’re collecting donations. They’re protesting. They’re recording and documenting. They’re stepping up.

Here’s where I need your help. Please show your support for minnesota. Let them know they’re not alone. Share this image and say where you are from. Share a story or photo of Minnesota if you have on.

Checkout I stand with Minnesota for additional ways to show support.

Minnesota, you’re not alone.
