Today is World Diabetes Day, a chance for us to educate our communities on diabetes and support those living with it.
Diabetes is a chronic condition that occurs when the body cannot use insulin properly to regulate blood sugar levels. Type 1 diabetes occurs when the body produces little to no insulin because the immune system attacks the cells that produce it. Type 2 diabetes, the most common type, occurs when the body produces insulin, but the cells do not respond well to it.
This year's focus for World Diabetes Day is "Diabetes and the Workplace," an effort to eliminate stigmas and discrimination in the workplace for those living with diabetes. To learn more about World Diabetes Day and how you can show your support, visit https://pulse.ly/qfbpmv1rge.
