I love what I do. People often comment about how hard it must be to treat cancer. But you know what? Most patients with early stage breast cancer do well. I love the relationship I develop with those patients long term. We have good screening, surgeries and more and more targeted therapies. My surgical partner had her baby and is now on maternity leave. That is a precious gift of time with her little boy. I am the only surgeon in the office for the next 8 weeks so I ask that you do offer us some grace as we work on prioritizing appointments so I am available to my new cancer patients. It may mean some of my follow up patients meet with our nurse practitioners or physician’s assistant in the clinic at their next follow up, but we are part of the same team. Most breast cancers grow pretty slowly, but a cancer diagnosis still rocks that person’s world and I know that. It is one of the scariest words one could ever hear. But we will sit down and I will give you all the information, discuss your imaging and we will come up with a plan together. We will make every effort to get you in as soon as possible to meet. Thank you for your patience and understanding ❤️

Important campaign that needs to be shared!

* Between 4-10% of breast cancer cases each year are thought to be due to alcohol use (we got this estimate from this paper). We used the middle of that range—7%—and multiplied it by 276,480, the estimated number of new breast cancer cases in 2020 (we got this estimate here). That equals 19,354.
