🚲🚨 NEW CAMPAIGN ALERT 🚨🚲

❤️ Right now, we need your help to bridge the gap of reaching families who have young children with physical disabilities in the Sioux Falls area!

🧡 Funds from this campaign will be used to purchase adaptive tricycles that will allow children with physical disabilities to fully participate in our Special Olympics South Dakota Young Athletes sessions, for use in our monthly open gyms, and as part of a check-out system to build skills in a home setting. Being able to loan out these adaptive trikes for home use is a huge driving factor in acquiring them, as they are beyond the means for most families to acquire individually.

💛 Our goal this year is to purchase 4 adaptive trikes with lower supports and 2 adaptive trikes with full supports. In doing so, we will expand the number of children who can safely and confidently participate in our activities. We plan to have this equipment purchased and available for use in time for the upcoming Special Olympics Young Athletes session beginning July 7, 2026.

💙 Time for another , and today we're thankful for the Rural Philanthropy Institute!

Back in December, Fun & Friends won a $250 prize from the Rural Philanthropy Institute's South Dakota Gives initiative by participating in their Day of Giving. We used this money to purchase a new table for our Fun for All Open Gym program.

The new Tuff Tray table made it's debut at February's open gym and was a big hit! At the upcoming Fun for All: March Open Gym 🪄, we have plans to get messy on the table with some oobleck.

Thank you Rural Philanthropy Institute for making the purchase of this versatile table possible! We know it will be enjoyed for years to come!

🎉 Today's program spotlight is shining on our newest program: Fun for All Open Gym

💙 These events are not new, but our decision to rebrand them and make them their own program is! Previously known as "Fun & Friends Jr. Open Gyms," Fun for All Open Gyms still serve the same population: families who have a child between the ages of 0-12 with a disability, rare disease, genetic condition, or who are on the spectrum.

💚 These events are always FREE to attend and feature an array of rotating toys, equipment, and activities. Snacks and refreshments are always provided.

💛 It's our goal to feature a different local resource as our "special guest" in the gym each month, as well as to have a cohesive theme for each event. If you are a local organization or business and are interested in being a special guest, please reach out to jenni@funandfriends.org

🧡 This program is made possible through collaboration with Special Olympics South Dakota who generously allows us use of their facilities.

❤️ Our upcoming Fun for All: March Open Gym 🪄 is taking taking place on Saturday, March 21st and will feature a magic show provided by our special guests Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club who will be there with more information about their inclusive playground project!

💜 This program is in need of a volunteer coordinator! If you love planning events, and coming up with fun themes, this would be the perfect role for you! ⭐ Meet the newest member of the Fun & Friends team: Courtney Nelson!

💙 Courtney will be joining us as our teen & adult program coordinator. In that role she will be planning and hosting monthly events for teens and adults with disabilities, as well as moderating the private parent Facebook group: Fun & Friends' Teen & Adult Parent Group

🏌🏻‍♀️ Looks like last night's Dads Night was just what the guys needed! Thank you all for braving the cold, coming out, and making the evening such a success!

Next up will be a Moms event, but Dads Night should return in late Spring! Dads, what would you like to do next? Brewery? Ax throwing? Let us know in the comments!

A big THANK YOU goes out to our friends and fellow nonprofit Hungry Hearts for believing in our mission, supporting our organization, and helping us create a more inclusive and accessible Sioux Falls. Thank you Uniquely Yours Specialized Care for joining us in the gym this past weekend for our Fun for All: February Open Gym 💘. We had a great time playing, crafting, and celebrating Valentine's Day together.

Our next open gym will be taking place on Saturday, March 21st. Look for more details to come soon!

🏌️‍♀️ Dad's Night by Fun & Friends is ONE WEEK AWAY, which means it's time to meet your host: Barrett Kaufman!

Barrett lives in Sioux Falls and has three kids, his youngest daughter has Down syndrome. His wife is a co-founder of Fun & Friends who currently serves on the board. He's always happy to get involved too-- especially when it involves food and drinks 😉

Fellow dads, get to know Barrett better by joining him at Great Shots next Thursday night. Fun & Friends will be providing appetizers and the bays. Dads are welcome to purchase their own beverages and entrees if desired.
