🎉 The gym was hopping yesterday! What a great way to kick off our 2026 open gym series 😁

💜 Thank you to The Accessible IEP for joining us in the gym and hosting a table, it was a great way for parents to get some of their IEP questions answered!

2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣ was quite an eventful year for Fun & Friends--literally!

It was our first full calendar year of operation and we loved filling it with unforgettable events. In total, we hosted more than 50 in person events and meetup opportunities for people of all ages and abilities 🥳

We experienced an unbelievable outpouring of generosity in 2025 allowing us to host all 50+ events FREE for attendees. We were also able to grow our programming to include teens & adults, which was one of our 3 year goals!

That wasn't the only 3 year goal we were able to achieve in our first year! We also brought our dream of hosting a local Disability Expo to life in April 2025. That event featured 60 disability providers and was attended by 400 people. We are so excited to be bringing the Expo back in 2027 at the Sioux Falls Convention Center 🥳

We got to test out some new events this year, like our All Family Picnic, Autism Parent Mixer and Winter Ball while repeating some favorites like Sensory Snakes and the Wrap Party.

🥂 Cheers to 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣5️⃣! We can't wait to do it again (and more) in 2️⃣0️⃣2️⃣6️⃣!

💙 In addition to event volunteers, we are also looking to fill two open Volunteer Program Coordinator positions! These are bigger volunteer positions within our organization, and will require a passionate, committed, and organized person. Both of these positions will require planning and hosting a monthly event, managing a budget, and attending occasional board meetings. You can read more in the newsletter.

😮 This December just keeps getting better and better! We are SO BLOWN AWAY by the outpouring of support and generosity that we have received this Giving Tuesday and beyond! We are incredibly thankful to everyone who nominated us for this prize from Backhaus Excavation & Underground LLC, and thankful to Backhaus for investing in the community via local nonprofits ❤️

Join us on Saturday, December 13th for our Fun & Friends Open Gym: Extra Special Holiday Edition ☃️ at the Special Olympics South Dakota gym.

🐧 We will have Winter & Holiday themed activities for kids to enjoy, like a gingerbread craft, gingerbread ring ross, an artic animal sensory table and more!

❄️ Attendees will also be able to make their own snow globe to take home! We will have some holiday cookies and refreshments available as well.

💙 This event is open to families who have a child between the ages of 0-12 with a disability, rare disease, genetic condition, or who is on the spectrum. We will be there from 9-11am and you are welcome to come and go as it works for your schedule. There is no registration required. This event is FREE for all families to attend and enjoy.

✨ A big THANK YOU to everyone for sticking with us through the Giving Tuesday madness! We know it's a lot of posting and asking, but we can't express our gratitude enough for all of you who helped to make our Giving Tuesday a successful one!
