FALL NEWS and UPDATE
-
I hope you have all had a wonderful joyful summer and are easing into new fall routines!
Fall is often seen as a season for gratitude, recalibration, and a time to rest and rejuvenate after hardships.
The last year has certainly been full of hardships for me. Some of you are aware that almost a year ago I lost my younger sister tragically, which has been very hard.
Since then, I've suddenly lost three more close family members, and faced some personal struggles through my nonprofit advocacy. Finally, this winter and spring I began dealing with worsening health issues, which had obviously had a negative effect on my capacity and physical ability to work at the same pace I have been used to.
At first, I started limiting the number of massage openings each week, to take the time needed to do more therapy, rehab, and rest between workdays, and also decided to preserve my openings only for existing clients and closed my books to new bookings, hoping to reverse the trend.
Unfortunately these strategies alone in the last few months haven't been enough to stop or reduce my pain and recovery needs t right now which has made it very apparent that I need to take some time out to try more rest and therapy to get my hands and body back to normal.
This also means that because of my already reduced capability, most of my appointments for September have just filled up.
In order to accomplish some serious recuperation, as well as the necessity of moving my office at the end of September, (my office building sold this summer and will be demolished) I will be taking a sabbatical break from massage in October, and temporarily closed my books.
I understand that this is an inconvenience and is a not an easy decision, when I know many of you struggle with chronic pain with similar health issues.
However, I'm not as young as I once was and I have had to face the reality that while being a massage therapist and healer has been my identity for the past 17 years,
right now I am not able to give the quality of massages I have been used to providing, and it is my turn to be the recipient of some healing help. It is incredibly difficult for me to admit, but there are several great people I have found to help me navigate this process.
I also have a list of wonderful trusted professionals I can share that I refer to regularly, because of their success with me and my patients, and I hope you'll give them a try to fill in for me in the meantime.
Beth at Amethyst Massage in particular has a similar atmosphere and uses the same Synergy Hot Stones, and I really enjoy her work. She helped some of my clients out when I cut my hand over Christmas last year, and they seemed very happy.
I appreciate all your patience and concern, and wish you a good fall solstice, and will be in touch in mid to late October after the dust has settled from the move and let you know when and how to get back on the schedule.
As always, I appreciate your trust and patronage over the years and wish your family a warm and wonderful season, and
I hope you'll also be diligent in continuing to take care of your health!
In Healing,
Elicia
