As a therapist, I spend a lot of time helping people move out of burnout and into more intentional, sustainable lives. This year, I’m challenging myself to do the same—by trying new, proactive forms of self-care each month.
This month’s theme is stepping outside my comfort zone… which somehow led to learning tattooing.
It’s all in support of our upcoming Ink for Tomorrows fundraiser—an event focused on community, creativity, and mental health awareness.
If you’ve ever needed a reminder to try something new (even if it feels a little uncomfortable), this is it.
✨ We’ll also be giving away a ticket to the event mid-month—stay tuned for details!
Feel free to share or follow along as this experiment continues.

Do you like to have TV on, just to have a little background noise? Well, it turns out that this habit can unintentionally contribute to language delays for young children. Studies have found that parents who use smartphones frequently around their children often exhibit less sensitive and slower responses to their child's bids for attention. This "digital distraction" is linked to increased behavioral issues in children, including more frequent tantrums, hyperactivity, and even signs of anxiety.

On the first day of spring, we at Encompass want to remind you that the change in seasons can be a good reminder to check in with yourself. If winter felt long or heavy, you are not alone. Spring doesn’t mean everything suddenly gets better, but it can be a gentle opportunity to start fresh in small ways. Try stepping out for a few minutes of sunshine, a short walk or even just taking a moment to stop and breathe.

Teenagers spending 4+ hours a day on screens are twice as likely to battle depression and anxiety compared to their peers. It’s not just about the time spent; it’s about what that time is replacing: sleep, face-to-face connection, and physical movement.
