The season for winter blues and seasonal mood shifts is upon us…❄️🥶

💡✨ SAD Lamp Tips for Boosting Mood + Energy ✨💡
Light therapy can be a simple, powerful tool during darker months. Here’s how to get the most out of your SAD lamp:

🌞 1. Use it in the morning
Aim for 20–30 minutes shortly after waking. Morning light helps regulate your circadian rhythm and supports more stable mood + energy.

📏 2. Sit at the right distance
Most lamps work best 16–24 inches from your face. You don’t need to stare directly at it — just keep it in your peripheral vision.

💡 3. Choose 10,000 lux
This is the clinically recommended brightness for effective light therapy. Make sure the lamp is UV-free to protect your eyes and skin.

🪟 4. Keep your eyes open
You can read, journal, sip coffee, or check emails — just avoid closing your eyes the whole time, since that reduces effectiveness.

📅 5. Be consistent
Daily use tends to produce the best results. Think of it like brushing your teeth: small, regular habits > occasional long sessions.

⚠️ 6. Talk to your clinician
Especially if you have bipolar disorder, eye conditions, or take photosensitizing medications.

✨ AND BE SURE TO TAKE YOUR VITAMIN D! ☀️

Nobody deserves to go hungry. We are saddened that soon many Oregonians and folks around the country will potentially face worsening food insecurity… many of whom are seniors, those with disabilities, and children. If you are able, please donate to your local food banks and give where you can.

For Oregonians seeking additional help or information on where to donate, please visit: for a list of local food pantries available for those in need.
