"Elbow Injuries in the Overhead Throwing Athlete” was the topic of discussion among Ivy Rehab clinicians in Lisle when Peter Waller, DO, primary care sports medicine specialist, lectured on “Little League” elbow (medial epicondylar apophysitis), ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) tears, flexor tendinitis, and stress fractures. Dr. Waller shared that student athletes in baseball, softball and tennis are most susceptible to overuse injuries due to repetitive overhead motions. If injured, these athletes may experience symptoms of pain, swelling and decreased range of motion.
