Why did you start Framed? Part two!
A lot of people ask me why I started Framed Eyewear and why I made it so different than the rest of the industry?
That’s an excellent question. There are many reasons, but this is REASON NUMBER TWO! More reasons to come!
During my time in the industry, I worked for a total of 4 companies. I worked for the best shops in the Chicagoland area. All of them did things more or less the same.
People come in, we stand up, help them choose frames, send them on their way. During this time the phone rings, the emails keep coming, the UPS guy is walking in, other patients are trying to butt in front of you, at some offices the fax is printing, the doctor is trying to get your attention, our co-worker needs help, the computer acts up, etc. Lots of distractions during your interaction.
What you don’t see is that we are taught to move the process along. What is the least amount of time you need with this patient so you can get to the next one. Every single optician is taught this!
During Covid, I learned there was a different way. I started doing appointment based consultations due to safety reasons. This allowed me to slow down, take my time with my patient, and the experience was better for both. Still, I was limited to an hour max. Ideally 30 minutes so I could serve the next patient.
When it came time to figure out Framed, I decided I would do things differently. We do EVERYTHING by appointment only. We space out enough time for each patient so you never feel rushed. We talk about much more than your typical optical interaction. We discuss who you are, what you like to do for fun, what your family is like, what your previous optical experiences have been like, what your struggles are with eyewear, and what you’d like to add to your wardrobe. All this is done before we even touch a single frame and that is intentionally done.
I found doing it this way provides my patients with an elevated experience they would never get elsewhere.
Keep watching for more reasons why Framed is different!
