Recognizing the need for heightened awareness of this disease, President Ronald Reagan made November the dedicated awareness month for Alzheimer's Disease in 1983. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, there were less than two million Americans with Alzheimer’s disease in 1983, which has since increased to nearly six million nationally. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), roughly 50 million people worldwide live with Alzheimer's disease and other types of dementia.
Today let's remember those we have lost to the disease and support those individuals and families currently fighting.

A Candle Light Service will be held for Jessica Alex Ghramm Thursday November 6th at 7am for 24 hour viewing at the Skokomish Shaker Church. Friday November 7th services will start at 10 am at the Skokomish Shaker Church, to be followed with a last ride around the rez and a burial service at the Skokomish Y Cemetery. Dinner services will follow the burial at the Skokomish Community Center cooked by Augusta Wilbur.
