My favorite month of the year is here!

February is a month where we celebrate life, love, and the blessing of our health. It is also a time of year we are reminded to hug those we cherish tight, as tomorrow is not promised. Heart month particularly is where I am most thankful for the health of my mother, a heart disease warrior.

On the Northshore, we are surrounded by so many families that have been impacted by heart disease and stroke. These warriors are our WHY we campaign for awareness and WHY this year we will continue to paint the town RED.

Today, Friday Feb. 2, is National Wear Red Day and I ask you to join me as we kick off a month of spreading awareness to save women’s lives by:
1. Wearing Red: Wear a favorite red outfit or accessory
2. Join Our Cause: https://northshoregrfw.funraise.org/
3. Sharing Your Support on Social: Post photos of you and your team and use and tagging American Heart Association - Louisiana

We need more women in our community to join our circle of impact to spread the word about our Go Red for Women initiative so that we may impact more lives.

Together, by uniting with us for our cause, we can help to improve the clinical care gaps of women’s greatest health threat, cardiovascular disease.

I want YOU to be in our Circle of Women who GO RED and are committed to being our next generation of life savors. Be a part of the action and join me today, https://northshoregrfw.funraise.org/

I’m so excited!

Like most women, I struggle to get in the right amount of protein needed to achieve my fitness goals which for me are to gain muscle and stay lean. In November despite lifting 3 days a week and eating what I thought was enough protein, I reached my lowest muscle mass in a long time simply because I wasn’t consuming enough protein and still working out 3-4 times a week.

Well, I’m picky and can’t stand traditional protein drinks, the chalkiness 🤢! Not to mention dairy and women just don’t mix well.. yes I know almond milk is a thing.. just not my cup of tea 🤷‍♀️. I set out to find a protein drink that checked all of my boxes:
-Not milky
-No sugar added or chemical flavoring
- 20g per scoop
-Tastes, decent
- Mixable with my BCAAs I drink post workout

Well I FOUND IT Women’s Best CLEAR whey isolate is definitely a game changer as well as many other awesome products too.. (don’t worry I will share the others.. I’m trying them slowly to see if they are worth the recommendation).

Since I have been drinking this post my lifting workouts for just 2 weeks, my muscle mass has gone up 5% and my body fat has dropped 3% 🥳

I chose the lemonade flavor because my BCAAs are Blue Raspberry and yes this is like summer lemonade in a cup 😋 so good and dissolves so easily in just 12 ounces of water!

I always love sharing my favorite things and who doesn’t love a good deal- this company is having a HUGE sale this month 30-50% off majority of their products.. nice right.. below is the link, let me know if you get something and love it!

Ever been called out on your Bull****?

It happens to me at the most unexpected times…

This past week I was meeting with a wellness patient discussing her goals, talking through obstacles, making a plan for the upcoming week when she stopped mid sentence and asked genuinely- what do you do to fill your cup back up? So easy for me, my work is fulfilling, my career as a coach (health, volleyball, leadership) fills me.

She kindly looked at me and said- I call bullsh*t…😳 gulp. She paused and said no I mean what do YOU do for YOU that makes you feel good, refreshed, inspired?

Which got me to thinking of a few things I take time randomly in my week to do for myself:
-Work out
-Sleep in
-Read
-Take a long bath and doze off (my favorite by the way).

But then it hit me.. I always feel guilty about doing those things any day but Sunday because I get in the office a little later, put off a checklist item, get a later start in the day…. So is that really filling me up, or stressing me out more?

Why is spending time on ourselves so taboo in this society of hustle and bustle- where the word BUSY is glorified 🤯.

So, I call bullsh*t… my New Year’s resolution this year is to carve out time every day for myself, how ever long I may need, to fill my cup and not give a damn what else could have been done in those moments.

What is your New Year’s Resolution?

Behold, the Light of the World!

Want an amazing experience that must have been for those Sheppards who were called out of their fields by angels to bear witness to the birth of our Lord and Savior!

Last night I had the blessing of attending St. Luke’s midnight mass, which was SO PERFECT in so many ways. Entering with the nativity only being lit, the strings added to the perfectly curated music by the choir.. oh man. I was instantly sobbing in my pew.. how beautiful it was to listen to Fr. Jared as he brought us back to Bethlehem on the night of Jesus’s birth, let us sit and picture us looking into the face of the perfect baby Jesus. It was so moving, so beautiful, so… Holy. It was everything I needed.

As I sit here remembering that feeling of adoration and sheer love for our precious savior laying in the manger- I pray that you all feel that peace and joy today on this celebration of our Savior’s life to this world.

Merry Christmas Everyone. Praying for you always!

Sunday mornings in my “rest” period before travel ball starts back are priceless to me.. there is just something about knowing my day isn’t full of “to-dos” it’s filled with the “I get tos”..

I get to sleep in a little
I get to enjoy my morning coffee on my couch
I get to reflect on this past week
I get to plan my next week’s goals
I get to spend time alone in prayer with a quiet mind and a peaceful heart.

This morning I was listening to my daily advent prayer on the Hallow App (if you don’t know what I’m talking about- you definitely need to go look it up) and at the end of the lesson when it’s time to pray personally- a thought hit me and has me sitting here in a deep reflection, so I thought I would share..

Am I a good Sheppard?

I feel like in life I have gone through my walk with Jesus thinking about my choices, my actions, and my words as ways to get closer to Christ, make Him proud, to be someone who when called home gets to walk through those gates easily… but today, this thought, it sits with me differently.

Have I been a “Good Sheppard” to all of the Blessings I have been given responsibility for? My family, my mental and physical health, my finances, my staff, my players, our guests and patients at the businesses, my friends, my home…. Wow. What a huge mindset changing thought.

For someone that struggles with perfectionism and sincerely disliking to feel like I’m not good enough or I could have done something more- this thought certainly has shifted me.

Today, I FEEL (very different to me than logically knowing or understanding) all of my responsibilities are sheep the Lord has blessed me with so that I can be a good Sheppard to them… not merely as accomplishments or stats or checks on a project plan.. but something so much more-my slice of His Kingdom He has given me.

So I’ll leave you with what’s on my heart today… in thinking about my 2024 goals and dreams it’s not about acquiring more, executing tactics, ensure my strategies are correct.. today I pray- how can I be a good Sheppard to my flock?

The holidays is always a time of year where I feel ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Prepping for the travel volleyball season, making sure my businesses are finishing the year strong, attempting to decorate my tree, Christmas parties, and let's not even start on shopping for gifts… I wake up already tired and my brain in over drive.

I know there are so many of you out there struggling with the same thing.. so I thought I would share God's natural gift to all of us all over the place people- Lion's Mane.

I found out about Lion’s mane and other nootropics (fancy word for cognitive enhancers) after reading a book by Biochemist, supplement creator, and king of all things ingredients Shawn Wells (his book The Energy Formula was life changing for me).

Lion’s Mane is the answer to all of us who have diagnosed or even self diagnosed ADHD- I mean who doesn’t have focus issues these days with all of the inputs we process daily. So what is this thing that looks part loofa/part squishy toy you would get from the old school vending machines..

Simply, it’s a mushroom that enhances memory and concentration, protects against neurodegeneration and promotes nerve growth. I take this daily in combination with other nootropics so I can skip the adderal side effects but get rid of the ping pong bouncing in my head within an hour of taking it. Pill form of course, who can eat a squishy looking mushroom early in the morning 🤢.

I use the Genius Brand, Genius Mushrooms, which combines Lion’s mane, Reishi mushrooms(improves sleep, boosts immunity and reduces stress and anxiety) and Cordeyceps (energy-boosting and performance-enhancing effects). Honestly, it’s AMAZING!

So as I take mine for the day with a large gulp of espresso.. I leave you with this- there is no better time to learn how to heal or assist yourself naturally and stop thinking you can be superwoman without the help of supernatural supplements.

Ok, it’s confession time.. I dislike social media. But, as we know it’s a necessary medium especially when you own businesses in a town where advertising is…difficult.

Every piece of business advice tells you to post post post.. but I feel like filling your feed with constant advertising and sales pitches is… cheap.

So, I have made a promise to myself (and my social media guru friends) that I will commit to sharing my journey and letting you know exactly who The Camellia Collective is.. Me.

I will be using my parent company page (this one) to share with you what I’ve learned the last 12 years as a corporate executive… the last 7 years of being a small business owner.. and the last 33 years of being a young woman with hormonal problems, insecurities, and lessons learned from being my own worst critic.

So in the spirit of grabbing the bull by the horns, ripping off the band aid, or better yet just freaking doing it- I’m not waiting to make a first of the year resolution.. I’m doing it now during my favorite time of the year. Give this page a like to follow along while I share with you all what I do for myself and my company to make sure, like this picture, I have a clear road ahead for success.

Buckle up people, this will absolutely be a bumpy but knowledge filled ride we can take together or from afar.. whichever you prefer. 🤍
