What’s the big deal about sensory play? 🧐 Well, we’ll tell you! What is sensory play in the first place? Sensory play includes any play activities that encourage a child to explore materials which stimulate any of their senses. Research indicates that engaging multiple senses simultaneously fosters deeper learning and memory retention, making sensory play a valuable early learning tool.

💦💧 It’s WATER PLAY WEDNESDAY! At Bayou & Bloom we enjoy time outdoors daily. One of our students’ favorite ways to play outside is with water play. It’s the perfect way to stay cool, have fun, and play while filling, pouring, dumping, and splashing.

Did you know water play is excellent for early learners? Here’s how!

🍁🌻🍂 Fall is in full swing at Bayou & Bloom! Last week we welcomed the changing of the seasons with lots of autumn activities. We reviewed letters T, A, and S with trucks, acorns, and sunflowers. Many of our daily themed activities focus on sensory exploration, strengthening fine motor skills, and encouraging an appreciation for nature. Take a look at some of the fun our 3 year old class had in class last week.

🍂 Nature-inspired art time! 🍂

Our 4-year-olds collected leaves during outdoor play, then turned them into something special. Each leaf was glued as the “body”, and the children added arms, legs, and faces with their own artistic touch. The results were as unique as each child!

We are wrapping up another great week of learning, play, and movement here at Bayou & Bloom.

This month we have covered letter A, T, and S.
We’ve explored 🍎 apples, 🦁 animals, 🌮 tacos, 🐢 turtes, 🚂trains, 🚜 tractors, 🌳 trees, 🦒 safari,
🧋smoothies, 🪐 space, 🥪 sandwiches, and 🦸🏽 super heroes. We’ve been busy learning and digging into so many fun activities.
