Fostiletta McKay Major

Fostiletta A. Major

August 12, 1965 - April 18, 2026

After taking her medication early Saturday morning, April 18, 2026, Fostiletta told her husband that he better not snore, and told her watchful and loving dog, Kolby, that he better not snore either, she started singing her song “Jesus Loves Me”. Little did Ronnie know that she sang and had slipped into eternal rest.

Fostiletta Aundrea Major, lovingly known as REDD, BIG REDD, FOSI, FOSALESIA, and LISA was born at home on August 12, 1965 to Alma L. Greene and Decatur Crocker Sr. She was a 1983 graduate of Smithfield High School. She was a member of the Smithfield Marching Packer’s Band and proudly carried the banner.

Fostiletta accepted Christ at an early age at Main Street Baptist Church (Rev. S.R. Williams). She later moved her membership to Sandy Mount Baptist Church (Pastor Robert Sinclair) and later joined Mt. Tabor Church of God in Christ (Bishop Clarence J. Sellers, Jr.) along with her husband Ronnie.

Fostiletta was employed at Huntington Ingalls for 6 1/2 years. She loved her co-workers and they loved and took care of her when she started having health concerns. All she talked about was going back to work. Fostiletta also worked part-time for Isle of Wight County in the Sheriff's department as a custodian. She loved that job and the people in those buildings as well. She worked most of her adult life for Smithfield Foods (formerly Luter’s and Gwaltney’s) where she formed many lifelong friendships and many became like a second family to her. Fostiletta had various forms of employment from working at the Smithfield Golf Course, the Meat Store (I’m sure many of you’ll remember that), Smithfield Medical Center, St. Luke's and Smithfood Foods Business Offices (Peninsula Cleaning Services), Home Sweet Home Health Care and Private Duty Patients. As you can see, she was determined to work for what she wanted and would often encourage others to do the same.

Fostiletta had a heart of gold. She was always willing to help someone in need, but she also wanted you to “help yourself” as well. A few days before she passed, she was on the phone trying to make sure that someone got the assistance that they needed, and she succeeded! She loved getting manicures and pedicures and would often invite someone to come get one with her (her treat). She loved Bath and Body Works, various perfumes, Mary Kay, shopping (in stores and on line), eating at her favorite restaurant Captain George, her favorite food was a fresh, hot piece of fried chicken, taking the grandkids (and other kids) to Busch Gardens, Great Wolf Lodge or wherever they wanted to eat. Fostiletta also loved to cook, read, listen to Jazz, and play games on her phone.

Fostiletta is predeceased by her father (Decatur Crocker Sr.), great-grandmothers (Ida Cofer and Rosa Patillo), grandparents (Willie and Bertha Crocker) (Russell and Violet McKay), Father and Mother in Love (Beverly and Roselia Major), brother (Decatur Crocker Jr), brothers in love (Kevin and Monte Major), and many aunts, uncles, and relatives that greeted her home.

She leaves to cherish her memory the Love of her Life, Mr. Ronnie Lee Major (Clean). After eight years of dating, they married on September 17, 1993. Through the good times and the hard times, they remained committed to their love for one another. She made sure that if her Clean wanted or needed something, they were gonna go find it and he did the same for his Redd. Together they have four children, Carlos Parker (Sonya), Eboney McKay (Edward), Ronnie Wells, and Keionte Wellons (Amirah) and a host of grandchildren, her Mother, Alma L. Greene, Sisters Vera M. Hunt (John), Violet Epps (Sheldon), Valerie Williams, Alisha Greene (Kendall), Debbie Senior-Whyne (Andrew), Bridgette Fields and Kimberly Crocker (Ronald), Brother Stanley Senior (Anjanette), Sisters in Love Beverly Minniefield (Jobie), Cynthia Hill, Javonda Fenner (Jamie), Angie Warren (Kevin), Brother in Loves Toni Green, Larry Cypress(Kim), Earnest Cotten (Betty), Uncles; Sidney R. McKay (Shirley) and Russell McKay (aka Pete), Aunts; Phyllis Blount, Valerie Major, Cynthia Warren, Beverly Wiggins, Joyce Copeland, Grace Holmes, Veronica Boone and a host of nephews, nieces, and cousins.

The family would like to thank Cynthia, Candace, Courtney and Maxine for your selfless acts of kindness and care that you gave to Fostiletta, Virginia Oncology, Virginia Beach General, Sentara Obici Hospital, Riverside Regional Medical Center (Smithfield), Windsor Grove, and Valerie Artis Medical Transport.

On Sunday, April 26,2026 viewing will take place from 2-5pm at Shivers Funeral Chapel. On Monday, April 27, 2026, A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11am at Mt. Tabor COGIC, Smithfield. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. Please keep the McKay and Major family in your prayers.

Lillian V. Wiggins

Lillian Vernett Bowser Wiggins, affectionately known as “Vernett,” was a woman of faith, strength, humor, and undeniable personality. She entered eternal rest on April 13, 2026.

Born on July 9, 1947, Lillian was the beloved daughter of Lillian Frances Thomas Bowser and Maso J. Bowser, Sr. She was raised in Isle of Wight County and educated at Isle of Wight Training School, where she began developing the wisdom and character that would define her life. As the eldest sibling, Lillian wore her title with love, care, and responsibility, nurturing and guiding her family from an early age.

Lillian wore many hats throughout her life. She worked as a cab driver, was a devoted domestic homemaker, and an avid Bible scholar. She was also a gifted conversationalist whose “gift of gab” allowed her to connect with people from all walks of life. Whether in the church or out in the streets, Lillian never met a stranger.

Known affectionately as “Roweena,” Lillian had a natural comedic talent that brought joy and laughter to everyone she encountered. Her sharp wit, expressive hand gestures, and sassy diva personality made her truly unforgettable. Her humor was unmatched, and her ability to make others laugh was second to none.

Lillian carried many loving traditions, including her special way of giving nicknames to her grandchildren—a reflection of her deep affection and personal connection with each one. She also had a deep love for history, supported by her remarkable long-term memory and her ability to recite scripture with ease. She often shared her faith boldly, reminding others, “I am just an ordinary person that serves an extraordinary God.”

Lillian confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior while attending First Free Will Baptist Church in Newport News, Virginia. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. She was later ordained as a Minister on July 26, 2009, and faithfully served wherever she was called. She led Bible study at senior housing communities and remained committed to spreading the Word of God whenever she was able.

Her greatest accomplishment was her family. She instilled in her children and grandchildren a strong spiritual foundation, teaching them that Jesus is Lord and guiding them to know and love Him.

She was first married to Leamon L. Jones, Sr., and from this union were born three children: Leamon, Lorenza, and Angela.

She later married Rev. Joseph Wiggins, who preceded her in death. He was a military veteran and dedicated shipyard worker who retired after 46 years and 7 months of service. During his illness, Lillian cared for him with unwavering compassion, humility, and love—demonstrating the true meaning of devotion.

Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Joseph R. Wiggins; her parents, Lillian Frances Thomas Bowser and Maso J. Bowser, Sr.; her sisters, Vanessa Diggs (Calvin) and Marion Warren (Carl); and her brother, Maso J. Bowser, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Leamon Jones, Jr. (Karen) and Lorenza Jones, Sr. (Sharon); one daughter, Angela Jones; sisters, Tammie Duncan (Keith) and Lolesia Bowser; brothers, Sherman Bowser (Susie), Audy Bowser, Sr. (Joyce), and Steve Bowser; Friend (over 60 years) Christine Seaborn along with a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Lillian’s legacy of faith, laughter, love, and strength will live on through all who were blessed to know her.

At 11 am on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, a Celebration of Life will be held at Shivers Funeral Chapel. Viewing will take place from 9-11 am prior to the service. The interment will be private. Please keep the Bowser, Jones and Wiggins family in your thoughts and prayers.
