💜🌿 Gaia Birth Story 💫

Today we’re honored to share Dana-Maries beautiful homebirth story of her son, Cameron – the first Gaia Baby of 2026!

"Cameron was due on 1/3/2026 and we didn’t even know if we were having a boy or a girl. The entire pregnancy was honestly perfect. I was super intentional the whole time with prenatal massages, pelvic floor work, acupuncture… I really tried to prepare my body and mind for birth.

On 12/31, I woke up with this feeling. I can’t even explain it, but I just knew something was coming. I decided to lean into it—I got a pedicure (priorities) and went for labor-inducing acupuncture. That night… I lost my mucus plug. I was SO excited. I immediately called my doula and I’ll never forget- she was like, “Labor is upon us.” And in my head I’m like, this is it. Little did we all know… I would actually go into active labor within 24 hours of that moment. But for the rest of that night nothing happened.

Around 3am, I woke up with cramps. And I never wake up with cramps so I just knew okay, this is different. By the morning of January 1st, I texted my doula again and updated my midwives. They were so calm and reassuring and basically told me: ignore labor until you can’t anymore. Of course… we did not listen 😂 We were way too excited. We started timing contractions, but they were about 8 minutes apart and honestly, I was still fully functioning. I was making pizza, watching funny movies, just hanging out like it was any normal day.

By around 8pm, things started to feel more real. The contractions were closer about 4 minutes apart but even then I was still handling it pretty well. Then my doula came. And I labored for the next 3 hours with my doula and my husband…

At this point, I had to completely go inward.. "
