What is an SNRI? Investigators found that participants receiving ammoxetine at either 40 mg/d or 60 mg/d experienced notable improvements in depressive symptoms compared with placebo, with most side effects reported as mild to moderate.

Cuts to basic research are often esoteric and seem so removed. So, why should we care when scientists lose funding for stuff they do on rats? Here is a very, very interesting finding for autism. Reticular thalamic hyperexcitability drives autism spectrum disorder behaviors in rats and suppression of this region reduced those behaviors. This is preclinical work, but if it pans out, the implications for people are huge.
