With deep love and profound sadness, our family announces the passing of Billy Cantrell who departed this world peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 52. A cherished son, brother, uncle and friend. Billy touched countless lives with his unwavering kindness, infectious laughter and radiant spirit. Born to William Edward Cantrell and Jane (Scarlett) Cantrell in Cookeville, Tennessee on 24 September 1973. Billy navigated life with resilience and joy, showing those around him the true meaning of unconditional love. He embraced the world with an open heart, reminding us of all that happiness is found in the simplest moments—a shared meal, a friendly hug or singing along to a favorite song. Billy was a devoted music fan, especially KISS. He played various instruments in true Billy style. He loved coloring, whittling wood, going for walks, watching old sitcoms and playing video games. His passion for food brought smiles to all who knew him. He could light up the room with his wit and humor. Billy is survived by his mother, brother Ted (Kathleen) Hillebrand of Cookeville, sister Julia (Reed) Vanderpool of Smithville, nieces Rebecca Hillebrand of Kanab, UT, Chloe (Daniel) Patterson of Smithville, nephews Christopher (Paula) Hillebrand of Santa Fe, NM, and Julian Vanderpool of Smithville. They will forever hold his memory close, celebrating the joy he brought to their lives. He was preceded in death by his father, brothers Christopher Hillebrand and Nathan Cantrell, parental grandparents Fred Cantrell and Beulah (Ponder) Cantrell, maternal grandparents Tom Scarlett and Cora (Judd) Scarlett. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his legacy of love, kindness and laughter will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. His family and friends will forever hold his memory close, celebrating the joy he brought to their lives. Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 2:PM with Bro. Janis Rhea Moorehead age 88, of Smithville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on December8, 2025 in the same town where she was born on December 15, 1936. A devoted mother, neighbor, and friend. Janis will be remembered for her deep love of family, steadfast faith, and tireless service to her community.

Raised along the banks of the K Fork River, Janis spent her childhood walking and traveling by canoe to school- a testament to her determination even as a young girl. She moved to Smithville as a senior in high school, graduating as valedictorian before attending Middle Tennessee State University, where she majored in biology. After a period living in California, where she married Robert Moorehead and welcomed her daughter, RoAnn Romines, she returned to Smithville in 1962 and devoted her life to building both her town and her church community.

For 32 years, Janis worked with Middle Tennessee Natural Gas, lending her time and leadership to multiple local committees. Her faith guided her every endeavor- first as an active member of the United Methodist women's group and choir, and later as a devout Catholic who helped found and build St. Gregory's Church. Her dedication led to serve on numerous diocesan committees in Smithville and Nashville.

Janis's passions were many; learning, painting, writing short stories and reflections on philosophy, traveling, and playing golf in her younger years. Above all, she found joy in prayer and in serving others, particularly through volunteer work and cooking for community gatherings.

She is survived by her beloved daughter, RoAnn (Jay)Romines; brother-in-law, Jerry Lee Cantrell; nephews, Shannon Cantrell, and Scott Cantrell; niece, Stacey Cantrell; great-nieces and great-nephews also survive
