On my drive home from a 24hr postpartum today, I remembered it’s World Doula Week. Normally I would be annoyed sitting in 285 traffic - but today my heart overflowed with thanksgiving. Thanks to God for this life, thanks to each of you for inviting me into your journey, thanks to my girls for supporting my work, thanks to all the amazing doulas I support alongside, thanks to my doula partner for doing so much life with me. I’ve kept every letter I’ve received from clients, and when I got home I read through them 🥹 I have no words for how grateful that I am to hold space for women, families and babies. Thank you so much for inviting me into your journey ♥️♥️

These moments are forever memories ♥️ In prenatals, we spend time dreaming and creating their unique experience. This Dad wanted to catch, we practiced the scenario in prenatals, talked through it together in the still moments during labor - and with confidence he encouraged his wife through pushing and received his daughter. He was intimately connected to his wife and baby through every moment of this journey. Look at his joy!!!! This is your birth, visualize what you desire and let’s make it happen!

So many things about this picture I love! First, is this incredible woman and mother, she is so incredibly strong and has an unwavering faith. It has been such an honor to support her through her two pregnancies and homebirths (and hope to in the future again 😉). Second, I’ve loved supporting her through the phases of my apprenticeship, to be there as assistant in her first homebirth, and as primary in her second homebirth. Third, I love when clients become friends. It’s so special to be able to merge our families and share the beauty of midwifery and women with our daughters. For them to see women supporting women through one of the most incredible moments of our lives is a powerful message we get to ingrain ♥️♥️

To journey together again, this time as your midwife - has been the greatest honor so far. Midwifery is an intimate journey, a partnership, a holistic approach that centers everything around what’s best for mom and baby. We spent 9 months together intentionally preparing, nurturing, and sharing each moment that led to today. What makes homebirth so special, is being surrounded only by those that truly care about you, undisturbed as much as possible, intimate connection and freedom to labor as you desire, guiding Jesse in catching her (🥹), observing her alertness and vigor as you brought her to your chest, and honoring the sacred first moments together ♥️ What a celebration, what a gift! Goldie Willa ♥️ born en caul, perfect and so very loved!

Just like the uniqueness of each birth story, so is the uniqueness of each placenta - it’s a part of the story. Examining the fetal side, maternal side and umbilical cord is part of the after birth care. What’s the shape? Size? Color? How are the membranes? Where did the cord insert? 3 vessels in the cord? Is it complete?

2025 is a wrap! My biggest year yet as I continue my doula work and the apprenticeship journey toward CPM. Thank you to all the women and families who have welcomed me and trusted me to care for them and their babies! I am forever grateful ♥️ Thank you for continuing to pour your wisdom into me, Beth and Rachel are amazing midwives! 2025 has been a full year with my doula partner - no one else I’d rather support families with, I’m so excited for our partnership to continue and grow! Congratulations to all the mothers - your strength and love inspires me everyday! Welcome to the world all the babies - I loved hearing your heart beat in prenatals, tracking your growth & witnessing your journey into your mother’s arms, and caring for you immediate postpartum - such an honor! Thank you for an amazing year! I pray you have a blessed and joy filled new year!

The intimate connectedness after birth is sacred. Mom & baby bonding is essential and the newborn exam is done in the same sacred space, keeping the calm + compassionate environment for baby and their parents. There’s no rush, take the necessary pauses and extra care to measure, listen, observe baby from head to toe with love and kindness. This sweet girl is perfect ♥️♥️♥️
