Greene County Health Care staff, Board members and guests celebrated our 50th year today with food, fun and games. We also announced our move forward as Contentnea Health. Contentnea Health is an inclusive name that doesn’t limit us to geographic borders, said CEO Melissa Torres. The name honors our Greene County history while also positioning us for the future. Greene County Health Care (GCHC) was a partnership between local and state leaders that started as an idea that Greene County residents should have access to care in their home county. Like GCHC, the Contentnea starts in Wilson and flows southeast - touching ours counties of growth. Contentnea is the English translation of a Tuscaroran word meaning fish passing by. The logo represents the three counties where we now have clinics. The bottom wave is fishlike, tying into the English translation of Contentnea. The logo also shows a forward movement as we continue to make history serving the health care needs of our community. Today, Greene County Health Care is Contentnea Health.
