Did you know in Florida, you don’t always have to complete a full CNA training program to take the state exam. If you’re 18 or older (or have a high school diploma or GED), you may be eligible to “challenge” the CNA exam.

That means you can sit for the exam without going through a 120-hour state-approved course, as long as you meet the requirements—such as passing a Level II background check and being prepared to demonstrate the required skills.

However, candidates only get three attempts to pass the exam. If you’re not successful after three tries, then you would need to complete a formal CNA training program before trying again.

This option is a great pathway for individuals who already have experience or confidence in patient care skills and are ready to take the exam.
