💙 What an incredible night for the Kenai Peninsula!

This year’s Evening by the River, held Feb. 27th and hosted by the Central Peninsula Health Foundation, was the Foundation's largest and most successful yet. With more than 135 community members in attendance and the support of 37 generous sponsors, the evening raised $264,350 toward a new mammography machine for Central Peninsula Hospital.

A special thank you to our Platinum Sponsor, Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation, whose $100,000 gift during the event helped propel the night’s fundraising success.

Because of this incredible community support, Central Peninsula Hospital is providing the remaining funding, bringing us to our $565,000 goal to purchase the new mammography system.

Once installed in Soldotna, our current mammography machine will be relocated to our clinic in Kenai, expanding access to lifesaving breast cancer screenings for women across the peninsula.

From our sponsors and donors to the volunteers and attendees who filled the room with generosity and heart—thank you for showing what community truly looks like.

Together, we are helping ensure women across the Kenai Peninsula have access to earlier detection and care close to home. 💙

✅ River Tower Power Fully Restored

Full power has been restored to the River Tower at Central Peninsula Hospital as of 12:45 p.m. today following last night’s utility-related outage.

Our facilities teams worked throughout the night alongside community partners to ensure services were restored safely and efficiently. Because of their incredible efforts, the River Tower will resume normal operations and operate at full capacity beginning Monday, February 23.

We are incredibly proud of our staff who worked through the night to protect patient safety and minimize disruption. Their professionalism, teamwork, and dedication to our community were on full display.

We are also deeply grateful to:
• Central Emergency Services for their rapid response
• Homer Electric Association for their partnership and expertise
• Huffer Electric Inc. for responding immediately to our call for assistance and supporting restoration efforts

Patient safety remained our top priority throughout the incident, and care teams coordinated closely with patients to reschedule appointments as needed.

We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients who were impacted. We are grateful for the trust our community places in us and are pleased to return the River Tower to normal operations.

Thank you, Kenai Peninsula. 💙

🚨 Important Update from Central Peninsula Hospital 🚨

Early this morning (February 20), Central Peninsula Hospital experienced a utility-related incident that resulted in a power outage affecting the River Tower on our campus.

🔹 The River Tower is closed to the public today.
🔹 Our facilities team and utility partners are actively working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.
🔹 Patients with appointments scheduled in the River Tower are being contacted directly to reschedule.

All other hospital services remain operational at this time.

“The safety of our patients, staff, and visitors remains our highest priority,” said CEO Angela Hinnegan. “We appreciate our community’s patience as we work to restore power and reopen the River Tower.”

We will share updates as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding and patience. 💙

🚛❄️ Mobile CT Trailer Heading Out — Thank You for Your Patience! ❄️🚛

As of today, the mobile CT trailer that has been serving our campus during construction is being removed — marking an exciting milestone in our imaging upgrade!

Over the past several weeks, while we replaced our in-house CT system, this mobile unit ensured there was no interruption in care. Even in the middle of an Alaska winter, our patients continued receiving timely, high-quality diagnostic imaging right here at Central Peninsula Hospital.

We know the temporary parking lot detours and extra activity around River Tower required a little flexibility, and we truly appreciate the patience of our patients, visitors, and staff.

This upgrade reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in advanced medical technology for the communities we serve across the Kenai Peninsula. Enhanced imaging capabilities mean improved precision, efficiency, and diagnostic confidence for our providers — and better care for you.

📣 Stay tuned! We’ll be sharing more details soon in an official press release highlighting the features and benefits of our new CT scanner.

Thank you for trusting us with your care — and for growing with us as we continue to strengthen local healthcare.

There are moments when a community comes together not just to celebrate — but to make a real, lasting difference.

This year’s Evening by the River is one of those moments.

Hosted by the Central Peninsula Health Foundation, this special evening is about more than gathering in a beautiful space. It’s about expanding access to lifesaving breast cancer screening right here on the Kenai Peninsula. Our goal is to raise funds for a new mammography machine — ensuring local patients and families have access to advanced technology, close to home, when it matters most.

Early detection saves lives. And together, we can make sure that care is available for our mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, and neighbors.

We are deeply grateful to our Platinum Sponsor, Aurora Integrated Oncology Foundation, for their generous support and shared commitment to improving cancer care in our community. Partnerships like this make meaningful progress possible.

Join us. Support the mission. Be part of something that truly impacts local lives.

Because when we invest in healthcare close to home, we invest in each other. 💗

🚶‍♀️💙 Thank you for walking with us this morning! 💙🚶‍♂️

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Walk With a Doc today. We’re especially grateful to our Emergency Medicine physician, Dr. Magalie Grant, for sharing such an excellent overview of the signs and symptoms of stroke—and what to do if you or a loved one experiences them. The thoughtful questions from the group made for a great discussion and learning experience.

And a big thank-you to Soldotna Parks & Recreation for their continued partnership and for hosting us. We appreciate everyone who came out to walk, learn, and take steps toward better health👟🧠

Our next Walk With a Doc will be on Wednesday, March 4th, at 7:30a.m. at the Soldotna Field House. Our speaker will be Josh Feede, DPT, with Central Peninsula Rehabilitation, speaking on Dry Needling.

Dry needling is a therapy technique used to treat muscle pain and movement issues.

What it does:
• Releases tight, knotted muscles
• Reduces pain and muscle spasms
• Improves range of motion and movement
• Helps muscles “reset” and relax

As always, these walks are FREE and open to everyone! We would love to have you join us!
