Empowering individuals with disabilities to live the life they choose with the supports they direct.
Frontier Community Services is dedicated to helping people stay in their home and to remain active in their community. Originally founded by a group of parents who wanted more for their children with disabilities than sitting at home in front of the TV, Frontier Community Services has developed programs for individuals of all ages. We provide a full array of services throughout a person's life span. We believe that people with disabilities can and should be valued members of their community and we strive to make this a reality for every individual we serve.

We want to thank Coen Braxling and our community partners at Hope Community Resources for hosting a wonderful Movie in the Afternoon event.
It was a great opportunity for people to relax, enjoy a movie, and spend time connecting with others in the community. Events like this help create meaningful opportunities for inclusion and friendship.
We appreciate everyone who helped make the afternoon so enjoyable.

We’re proud to share that March 2026 has officially been proclaimed Developmental Disabilities Shared Vision Awareness Month in Alaska.
This recognition highlights the importance of building communities where individuals with developmental disabilities are valued, included, and supported. Across Alaska, thousands of children and adults with developmental disabilities contribute their strengths, perspectives, and talents every day.
At Frontier Community Services, we are honored to be part of the work that helps individuals live independently, stay connected to their communities, and pursue their goals.
Together, we can continue building communities where everyone belongs.

Big things happen when people find their voice.
The Peer Power Self-Advocacy Summit returns April 24–26, 2026 in Anchorage — bringing together self-advocates, families, providers, and partners from across Alaska.
This three-day event focuses on leadership, self-determination, employment, policy education, and strengthening local advocacy networks.
Even better?
Registration has been reduced to $50 thanks to funding support from the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Special Education.
That lower cost opens doors. Let’s make sure people know about it.

At Frontier Community Services, we see firsthand how early intervention transforms lives.
The Infant Learning Program helps Alaska families access critical support during the most important developmental years. Continued funding in the FY27 budget ensures children receive services early — strengthening families and communities statewide.
If this program has touched your life, now is the time to speak up.
Strong families start early. Let’s keep it that way.

Direct Support Professionals are essential — and it’s time their role is recognized.
A bill in Congress, The Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act (H.R. 6137 / S. 3211) would help create a Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) for DSPs. This may sound technical, but it matters. It is a key step toward having DSPs recognized as professionals and improving wages over time.
📢 Take a minute to contact your members of Congress and ask them to support the Recognizing the Role of Direct Support Professionals Act (H.R. 6137 / S. 3211).
Your voice matters.
