Who We Are

A death in the family is a very sensitive time in everyone's life. During a time of loss, a familiar face can be a very welcome and calming sight. Pulaski Funeral Home and the professional, compassionate staff that make it up are exactly that. Pulaski Funeral Home has been a familiar face in Pulaski County, Kentucky since our founding in 1953. The business was located at 130 South Central Ave., Somerset, KY until 1967, when we moved to our present location at 165 N. When our new building was built, it set several milestones. We were one of the first funeral homes in the area to establish ourselves as a self contained full service funeral facility,. The building was constructed around meeting the needs of those calling upon us for help in a time of loss. The spacious primary funeral chapel was built to hold 225 persons, also the staff are easily able to serve four families at the same time without any one family being in the way of another. Pulaski Funeral Home was also built for those with special needs in mind, it was, and still is, the only funeral establishment in Pulaski Co. KY where not a single step is encountered to get into or out of our facility, also, not a single step is encountered while moving around inside our spacious facility. The Parking lot has doubled in size twice since 1967 to facilitate the ever increasing populace of our county.....it also is level and requires zero special effort for those with special needs. In the past, Pulaski Funeral Home has been there to establish strong traditions with families and the forward thinking of past leadership has helped this firm remain just as strong today. Life is always in flux and change is always a constant. Pulaski Funeral Home has been leader in change and continues to offer traditional as well as the most contemporary services. We are proud to be able to provide these services within the means of every family. Whether you want a traditional service, cremation, green funeral, immediate burial or body donation, our experienced staff, led by the Manager and co-owner, Bruce Phelps are very comfortable meeting each of these needs. Bruce is the most experienced, full time embalmer and funeral director with local ties here in Pulaski County having more than 33 years of service to offer families of Pulaski County. Pulaski Funeral Home has one of the strongest pre-need programs available in Pulaski and surrounding counties, this area is also headed up by Mr. If you are interested in pre-arranging your funeral, all you need to do is call and your final expense needs will be met, whatever those needs may be. Nearly a decade ago, Pulaski Funeral Home was purchased from its previous owners to a younger host of owners with many being local business people with strong local ties. Pulaski Funeral Home is dedicated to providing unequaled compassionate service and quality merchandise to those in need regardless of any family's socio-economic standing. Paula Louise Perry, 64, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away on April 5, 2026.

Born on October 16, 1961, in Barberton, Ohio, Paula lived a life centered around love, family, and compassion. She was a talented beautician in Ohio before moving to Kentucky, where she later worked for Palm Beach until her health no longer allowed. Paula also devoted herself to caring for her mother, Eleanor Mace, and found her greatest joy in being a full-time grandmother to her beloved grandchildren.

Paula was known for her nonjudgmental, forever-loving, and free-spirited heart. She had a way of making everyone feel accepted, valued, and at home in her presence. Her kindness and warmth touched countless lives, and her memory will live on in all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Eleanor Mace; her uncle Ray; her great-aunt Naoma; and her sister-in-law, Marsha Mace.

Paula is survived by her loving children: her son, Theodore Mace, his wife Darrien Hughes, and grandson Tyson Mace; her daughter, Brandie Wright, her husband Matt Wright, and their children Camryn Wright and Callen Wright; and her daughter, Mariah Perry, and grandson Kion Woolridge. She is also survived by her siblings: her brother Steven Mace; her brother Martin Mace and his wife Jenny Mace; and her sister Ellen Lessem and her husband Brad Lessem.

She also leaves behind her cherished adopted daughters: Hilary Dick and her sons Camden Cowan and Kai Strode; and Mikayla Coffey, her husband Coleman Coffey, and their children Zayden Coffey and Kaylen Coffey.

Paula is further survived by her best friend, Barbra Heaney, and her husband Bill Heaney, who shared a special bond with her that will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home. Family will gather at 11:00 AM, with public visitation beginning at 12:00 PM, and the funeral service at 2:00 PM. There will be an open floor during the service for anyone who wishes to share thoughts, memories, or stories in honor of Paula's life.

Paula Louise Perry will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave so freely and the light she brought into the lives of others.

Charles Ewing Slayton

Rev. Charles E. Slayton of West Plains, MO passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 28, 2026, surrounded by his loving wife, Charlotte, and his children and family.

Charles was born on July 9, 1943, in Westmoreland, Tennessee, to Rev. Odell and Edith Slayton. He later moved with his family to Indianapolis, Indiana, where he attended Manual High School. Charles met his beloved wife, Charlotte, while attending Cruft Street Church of God of Prophecy, and they were united in marriage on February 14, 1964.

Charles was a devoted lifelong member of the Church of God of Prophecy for over 80 years. He began his pastoral ministry in 1975 and faithfully served for more than 30 years. During that time, he pastored congregations in Peoga, Indiana; Greenwood, Indiana; Fayette, Alabama; Phil Campbell, Alabama; Greenfield, Indiana; Brownsburg, Indiana; and Anderson, Indiana.

Charles also built a long and successful career in the electrical supply industry, working in the Indianapolis area for over 30 years. Throughout his career, he served with Watson-Flagg, W.L. Flemming Electric, Moran Electric Service, Baker Wholesale Electric, CED Electrical Supply, and All Phase. He was known for his strong work ethic, reliability, and the relationships he built with colleagues and customers alike.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Odell and Edith Slayton, and his sister, Nancy Slayton.

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Charlotte Slayton of West Plains, Missouri; his children: Jerry (Rhonda) Slayton of Indianapolis, Indiana; Stephanie (Jeff) Casner of Bloomington, Illinois; and Greg (Missy) Slayton of West Plains, Missouri.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: Demi Hoskins, Jessica (Derrek) Staton, Dara Hoskins, Caleb Slayton, Tiffany Casner, and Jessica Casner; and his great-grandchildren: Layla Emberton, Daisy Emberton, Leland Hoskins, Brooks Hoskins, Delilah Staton, Waylon Barnett, Lincoln Hoskins, and River Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Odell and Edith Slayton, and his sister, Nancy Slayton and survived by his sister Ann Whitaker of Somerset, KY

Services for Charles will be held on April 7, 2026, at Indiana Funeral Care, 2433 E Main St, Greenwood, IN 46143. A private viewing for family will begin at 4:00 PM, with open visitation at 5:00 PM, followed by the funeral service at 7:00 PM.

Charles will be remembered for his unwavering faith, his love for his family, and his lifelong dedication to ministry.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Pulaski Funeral Home and Indiana Funeral Care for their care and assistance during this time.

Alice Ravaina Fickey-Wilson, age 85, of Stearns, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026 surrounded by family and friends.

Alice was born on September 30, 1940 to Clarence Henry Fickey and Jettie Pearlene Renfro-Fickey. She was a great gardener with an amazing green thumb and had a love for plants like no other. Alice was a hard working woman and was a devoted mother to her six children. She enjoyed spending most of her time with family, friends, and her babies (plants) in her older years.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her three daughters, Lori Vanover, Pamela & (Gary) Dickinson, Barbara Moore; along with her son, Gary Vanover.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory three children, Wayne & (Shelley) Vanover of Somerset, Larry & (Debbie) Vanover of Tomahawk, Kentucky, Michelle Coffey of Somerset, and her bonus daughter, Anna Ross. She also leaves her fourteen grandchildren, Lucas Vanover, Larry Vanover, II., Jason Vanover, Brett Vanover, Lynette Vanover, Eric Moore, Timothy Moore, Gary Vanover, II., Amanda Rutherford, Jason Taylor, Adam Johnson, Ashley Phillips, Jordan Gilreath, Olivia Brown, and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a special friend, Carol Jones; and a host of other friends and family whom she loved dearly.

Alice was blessed to live a long and healthy life and her fun, loving spirit never failed to make everyone laugh. She will be missed dearly and her mark that she left on everyone she ever met will never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at 4 :00 PM Friday, April 3, 2026 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home

Burial will be in Mill Creek Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 2:00 PM Friday, April 3, 2026 at Pulaski Funeral Home until time for services.

Brenda Carol Gossett

Brenda C. Gossett, age 76, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this life on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center. Brenda was born on January 3, 1950, in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Talmadge Goff and Arettia Goff. Brenda loved spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Tristan Abbott and great - grandson, Connor Miller. She further enjoyed spending time with her special friend, Sharon Wesley. Brenda worked at Palm Beach and was of the Baptist faith.

Brenda is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Plano Clyde (Junior) Gossett Jr., her parents Talmadge and Arettia Goff, a sister, Joy Foster, brothers; Dennis Goff, Benny Goff, and Frankie Goff as well as a great - Granddaughter and her husband; Ashley and Aaron Singleton.

Brenda is survived by her daughters, Bobbi Jill Gossett of Somerset, Shelia Walters (Terry Flanagan) of Nancy, Angie Ross (Dale Daulton), five grandchildren, Tristan Abbott (Abbie Greynolds), Josh Morgan, Shane Meece, Courtney Walters, Jodi Walters, great - grandchildren, Connor Miller, and Oakley Weston, Adrian, Jared and Hailey.

Brenda will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her warmth, strength and devotion to her family will never be forgotten.

Private Services were held.
