A charity-based hospital for orphaned, abandoned, and at-risk children.📍Migori, Kenya 🇰🇪

From our base in Kenya, we pioneer a new way of treating and caring for vulnerable children that we plan to introduce across Africa and Asia. Unlike orphanages that can cause the separation they seek to solve, we help loving families stay together.

- Treatment

We give free, life-saving treatment to children who need it, now. Through our medical camps and rescue services, we travel to remote regions and provide urgent medication and ongoing care plans. Where patients are in need of hospital treatment, we transport them to our locally staffed facilities. We also provide outpatient hospital services to children who walk in or are referred to us for evaluation and care. We fight for every child as though they are our own, no matter what their condition or life expectancy.

Our transformative hospital stays combine critical healthcare with holistic services that go way beyond physical health. Counselling, education, and play empower patients and support them to health and happiness.

- Keeping families together

By understanding why abandonment happens, we can intervene when support is most needed and help loving families stay together. We offer bereaved fathers stability and support, so they don’t give up their children in despair. And we provide temporary care for the children of child brides, orphaned girls, and other vulnerable mothers who want their children but can’t provide for them yet. Our goal is to prevent children from being separated from their relatives and orphaned forever.

Squished together, rocking away, not a worry between them.

And one of them spots a familiar face walking by and just waves.

Happily, instinctively, it is the most natural thing in the world.

And it is...because that is exactly the point.

OVI did not happen overnight...

It was built decision by decision, day by day, by a founder who believed children who had been abandoned and forgotten deserved more than survival.

They deserved afternoons like this one.

It's been 10 years now...And it is beautiful.

Because she is ready for you.

She doesn't have a waiting room, but she does have questions, and she will attend to you.

We're not saying she's taken over.

We're just saying some days she wakes up with a full agenda and absolutely no plans to slow down.

This little one has been lighting up this place since day one.

Full of life and full of that smile.

And this is what a Saturday at OVI looks like.

No rush, just a little girl who wakes up and decides today is her day.

And it absolutely is.

𝗡𝗼𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗢𝗩𝗜 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿...

Well, the world loves a recovery story. The before and after. The child who walked out of the hospital on their own two feet.

But what about the ones whose story looks different?

What about the little one who will never walk, but laughs every single time the swing moves?

The one who can't speak, but reaches for your hand like they've known you forever?

The one whose body is fragile, but whose spirit fills the whole room?

At OVI, we believe their comfort matters, their dignity matters, and their joy matters.

And not as a consolation prize, or as second best, but as the whole point.

Because a child who cannot be cured can still be deeply, completely loved.

They can still know warmth.

They can still know safety.

They can still know that someone showed up for them today, and will show up again tomorrow.

And that is everything to them.

Plus, they are some of the most lovely little ones we have ever had the privilege of knowing.

A new week has just started...

And somewhere in Migori, Kenya, a little one woke up this morning in a warm bed, with a nurse checking on them, a meal coming, and a full day of care ahead.

That didn't happen by accident.

It happened because someone, somewhere, decided that $10 was worth it.

$10 is one overnight hospital stay at OVI Children's Hospital. Full care. Skilled nursing. Therapy. Education. Love.

For a child who has nobody else showing up for them.

Every Monday, a new week begins for our little ones.

A little peek into this week at OVI.

Three little ones squished together on the swing, rocking away without a worry in sight.

And on the mat, little hands grabbing toys, eyes wide with curiosity, and someone right there making the silliest faces just to earn a giggle.

Just a Thursday at OVI.

Safe, loved, and very much at home.

This is the world our little ones live in.

And it's beautiful.

𝗢𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽.

An emergency incubator for Baby A, who was abandoned in a leaking house here in Migori, Kenya, right in the middle of the floods.

And you surely came through.

Now guess what?

It arrived. Yesterday. Right here at OVI.

Our team gathered around it...and a specialist walked our staff members through every button, every setting, every detail.

Making sure that when a tiny life needs it, everyone is ready.

That's what your generosity looks like from the inside.

Baby A is warm, fed, and safe tonight.

Because of you.

But the boy is not the last little one who will need this.

𝗦𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗼𝗿𝗶, 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮, 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝗼𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗳𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗮 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗽𝗲𝘁.

While roaring with laughter, clapping his hands and wandering through places he's never seen and never imagined.

Flying over mountains. Playing with puppies in outer space. Standing at the edge of an ocean.

For those few minutes, the illness is gone. The four walls are gone.

He's just a kid full of wonder and full of joy.

Though he hadn't left his bed in months.

This day he traveled the world.

For children too sick to go outside, too fragile to play, OVI brings the world to them.

Because healing isn't just about mending the body. It's healing little broken hearts.

Our hospital is Kenya’s first and only long-term pediatric care facility of its kind. We provide free care for children suffering from terminal illnesses or debilitating conditions who have been abandoned or rescued from environments that could not meet their needs.

This is what our patients see when they first arrive at OVI.✨

Not busy hallways or scary equipment. But indoor gardens. A jar of homemade ginger cookies. A smiling doctor. And a loving patient care assistant whose only job in that moment is to hold them and help them feel safe.

Every rug, plant, soft light, and quiet corner exists to help their little bodies settle and their hearts exhale.
A space that gently says, you’re safe now.

Because when a child comes here, it’s usually after the hardest day of their life. Many are brought by local police or child protection officers after being rescued from abandonment, abuse, or situations that couldn’t support their fragile health.

That’s why OVI isn’t meant to feel like a hospital.
It’s meant to feel like a haven. Healing can’t begin until a child feels safe.

When we talk about providing free medical care to vulnerable children in Kenya, people often picture makeshift tents, long lines, and outdated supplies. But at OVI we're not just saving lives, we're creating lives our patients love. We offer personalized sound and massage therapies to bring peace to even the sickest children. Almost every video and photograph you’ve seen from OVI has been created by Caleb. The handwritten cards you get as donors always have the photos he lovingly takes for us inside. His talent and heart are behind nearly every piece of content we share with you.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we asked Caleb what one thing he was most grateful for and this answer brought tears to our eyes. What a gift it is to share this beautiful life and impact journey with all of you.

Evaline has one of the most beautiful hearts on our planet. She’s part of our caregiving staff, or as we affectionately call them, “hospital mamas.” She brings comfort, joy, and belonging to children who have never known a mother’s love.
Watching her interact with our children evokes pure warmth and wonder. She knows exactly how to soothe a scared child, how to make them laugh during therapy, and how to make them feel safe in her presence. Evaline is changing lives here every single day, and we’re so lucky to have her as part of our OVI family.
