A beautiful day to celebrate the kickoff of Child Abuse Prevention Month 💙

So proud we could be a part of such a special day 💜

“Days like today are one of the many reasons we provide CASA of Southern Kentucky an office here in the Pulaski County Courthouse,” said Pulaski County Judge Executive Marshall Todd. “Children are the future generations we raise in Pulaski County. Their well being is paramount to the success of this entire Lake Cumberland region. Today’s proclamation signing goes a long way to show our children that both the City of Somerset and Pulaski County Government are in their corner. All the agencies that showed up today put our youth first and it shows. I couldn’t be prouder of all those who attended today’s ceremony and everything they do for our community.”

The proclamation reads:

TO THE PEOPLE OF SOMERSET AND PULASKI COUNTY:

WHEREAS, we can build healthier, safer, and thriving communities if we take the same approach to raising families that we do to tending a community garden on a shared piece of land; and

WHEREAS, children are locally grown and have a right to be safe and to be provided an opportunity to thrive, learn and grow; and

WHEREAS, hope and commitment are powerful fertilizers that strengthen and support Somerset's families thus preventing the far-reaching effects of maltreatment, providing the opportunity for children to develop healthy, trusting family bonds; and

WHEREAS, we must come together as partners to nurture, heal, and grow together because prevention happens in partnership; and

WHEREAS, by growing a better tomorrow for all children, together, we can ensure that Somerset's children will grow to their full potential as the next generation of leaders, helping to secure the future of this state and nation.

WHEREAS, prevention remains the best defense for our children and families.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, MARSHALL TODD, PULASKI COUNTY JUDGE EXECUTIVE, AND I, ALAN KECK, MAYOR OF SOMERSET do hereby proclaim April 2026 as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Somerset-Pulaski County, Kentucky and I urge all citizens to join in this observation, and therefore recognize this month by dedicating ourselves to the task of improving the quality of life for all children and families.
