Recent cases of measles have been reported in the State of Arizona. Although no cases have been identified in Yuma County or Imperial County, it is important to remain aware of measles symptoms. Most cases develop 7–14 days after exposure. While it is possible to become ill, individuals who have previously had measles or who have been vaccinated are unlikely to contract or transmit the disease.

If you believe you may have been exposed to measles or are experiencing symptoms, please stay away from others and contact the clinic to speak with your care team before coming in. The best protection against measles is vaccination—and it is never too late. If you or any of your children over the age of one have not yet been vaccinated, please contact the clinic at (760) 572-4110 to schedule an appointment.

Important note: all individuals should consult with their health care provider to understand their options regarding vaccinations.

Last month, Cocopah Head Start students made frybread, a food that holds a special place in Native American culture and history.
It’s more than a favorite food, it’s a symbol of resilience and roots. Sharing frybread keeps traditions alive with every bite. The students had so much fun learning about ingredients and how to make frybread from scratch. They tasted their own creations and loved it so much they even went back for seconds! Activities like these strengthens culture and keeps them connected across generations.
