Registration is now open for the FREE Online Advanced Skills Trainings we will be holding in March, brought to you by the Home Care Aide Council and the Executive Office of Aging & Independence.

The 2 1/2-hour Substance Misuse Training, open to ALL home care aides, will be offered on Thursday, March 12 from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This training seeks to prepare aides to work with clients experiencing substance misuse issues.

The 12-hour Alzheimer’s training will be offered on Tuesday, March 17 and Wednesday, March 18 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The training is open to ALL home care aides. THIS IS A TWO-DAY TRAINING.

Utilizing the Alzheimer's Association's materials, this course is designed to prepare aides to work with clients with Alzheimer's Disease or other Dementias.

The 2-hour Social Isolation Training which is open to ALL home care aides, will be offered on Monday, March 23 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. This course is designed to prepare aides to serve clients who may be experiencing social isolation.

And, the 12-hour Mental/Behavioral Health Training, open to ALL aides, will be held on Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. THIS IS A TWO-DAY TRAINING.

The training is a 12-hour training designed to prepare Home Health Aides to work with client populations facing mental and behavioral health challenges.

ALL COURSES ARE LIMITED TO 40 PEOPLE. PROVIDERS CAN ENROLL UP TO 5 PEOPLE PER TRAINING.

The deadline to register is Thursday, February 26, HOWEVER, registration will close automatically once the courses reach capacity and that may be before February 26.

More than 200 people attended our Annual Home Care Aide Celebration on November 14 at on November 14.

7 Awards were given out and more than 100 people were nominated for the awards from home care agencies and Aging Service Access Points in the State.

We were thrilled to have Lynn Vidler, Assistant Secretary, Executive Office of Aging & Independence (AGE), Devon Garon, Director of Home and Community Programs at AGE and Joel Bartlett, Home Care Provider Coordinator at AGE with us at the Home Care Aide Council Celebration on November 14.

Council Board Member, Tola Olubanjo presented the 2025 Ally Award to Betsey Crimmins and Ellen Taintor on behalf of Mass Aging Access for the work that for their support of home care workers and their partnership.

On Thursday, November 13, the Home Care Aide Council held it's annual Home Care Aide Celebration at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy.

Today we celebrate the remarkable home care aides who care for elderly residents of Massachusetts, at our annual celebration.

This afternoon, the Massachusetts House passed H.4706 - An Act to improve Massachusetts home care, the home care licensure bill.

The home care licensure legislation is a priority of the Home Care Aide Council. We have been working hard with a broad stakeholder coalition to secure passage of this legislation for several years.

We are grateful for the leadership of Chairman Tom Stanley and the support of the Joint Committee on Aging and Independence for their work on this legislation and we are grateful to the leadership of the House of Representatives for their support.

The Home Care Aide Council supports the creation of a licensure system that would establish baseline standards for home care agencies, to ensure a quality network of providers for home care consumers and keep services affordable for those who rely on them.

Now the bill moves to the Senate for them to act upon it.

Today, the MA Legislature's Joint Committee on Health Care Financing held a hearing on S.870 and H.767, An Act clarifying the rate setting processes for home health and home care services.

Council members Melinda Boulay from Elara Caring and Kristin McHugh, RN of Prime Home Health & Companion Care testified along with Julie Watt Faqir and did a brilliant job testifying to how important it is that the State be transparent in setting rates for home care and home health services.

The Ally Award this year was awarded to The Home Care Alliance of Massachusetts for their commitment to the Enough Pay to Stay Coalition and their assistance to the Council and our joint mission of contributing to the advancement of the home care aide workforce.
