Bean-Nut-Burger
One small onion, diced
One clove of garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon cumin
2Tbsp nut butter
1medium carrot. Shredded
14.5oz can bean of choice- mashed with fork
Salt and pepper to taste
4 Whole grain buns (optional)
Burger, toppings of choice

Heat 1and 1/2 avocado, oil or vegetable broth (oil free) on medium heat. add the onions and gently cook until softened- around 7 to 8 minutes.
Add the garlic and spices. Cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, stir in the grated carrots and the nut butter and the beans.
Mix everything well to combine. Remove from the heat and season to taste. When cool enough to handle, shape into 4 patties. Cook the burgers in a coated pan for about 5 minutes each side.
Serve and enjoy

In my professional opinion-America isn’t low on protein or fats — we’re low on nutrients.
We’re missing fiber, antioxidants, and the micronutrients that come from real whole foods.
This pyramid leans heavily into high‑fat proteins — especially saturated fats — and as a dietitian specializing in heart health, that raises red flags for me.
Evidence shows diets high in saturated fat can increase the risk of heart disease and certain cancers.
Protein matters, but it’s not the whole story.
Nutrient density still wins.

Going home for the holidays isn’t just about family hugs and cozy traditions… it’s also about slipping back into old, familiar patterns.

And the excuses? They come easy:
👉 “I deserve to relax and enjoy life.”
👉 “This time of year only comes once—I’ll get back on track later.”
👉 “I can’t say no to dinner with my old friends.”
👉 “Grandma’s pound cake is basically mandatory…”

So you eat. And eat.
And then eat some more.

Before long, the goals and progress you worked so hard for start to unravel. Getting off track now means facing an even bigger hurdle later. And that’s when the pressure builds… suddenly it feels like the only way forward is to set a massive, unrealistic New Year’s resolution. 🚀
