We are almost ready! In Santa Cruz and at Kennolyn Camps Huntington Lake, final preparations are under way for Summer 2025. We still have one staffing need. In Santa Cruz, we could use one more leader for the Daleside (Girl's area.) We are looking for someone with leadership experience (doesn't have to be camp experience) who can help campers thrive and support our counselors as they do their work. If you were a camper here, have family connections to Kennolyn, were a staff member, or just love working in the outdoors helping people succeed, we'd love to talk to you. Also, if you know Kennolyn, you know the type of people we look for so maybe you can refer a friend. We are open to a partial summer commitment but would love to have this person on site by May 29th for our leadership training. Please note that while camp staff are traditionally college aged, many of us are NOT. In other words, we are open to applications from all qualified candidates and we are an equal opportunity employer.

Kennolyn Camps History

Kennolyn was founded by Max and Marion Caldwell in 1946, when Harry S. Truman was President of the United States, the first network television series was introduced (on one of only two stations), and gasoline cost a whopping 15 cents per gallon!

Max and Marion (affectionately known as Uncle Max and Aunt Marion) were both teachers. During World War II, Uncle Max served on an ammunition ship in the Pacific. “If I EVER get out of this alive,” he wrote, “Let’s start a school or a camp.” From these simple words blossomed Kennolyn - 75 years later three highly acclaimed summer camps and events in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Huntington Lake.

Welcoming the first campers in 1946 was a lifelong dream come true for Aunt Marion and Uncle Max. They named camp after their children Ken and Carolyn, and started with a 60-acre site and 26 campers, including 11 nieces and nephews who addressed them as Aunt Marion and Uncle Max. The names stuck from that day forward with tens of thousands of campers, staff, parents and grandparents.
