On Thursday, March 26th, Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital team members proudly participated in the job fairs at Danville Community College (DCC) and Southside Virginia Community College (SVCC). Our dedicated employees went above and beyond to share their experiences, answer questions, and introduce students to the rewarding opportunities available at Sentara Halifax.

We are grateful to have such passionate staff members who take the time to connect with local students, offering guidance and encouragement as they consider their future careers. Their commitment to supporting the next generation not only showcases the spirit of our organization but also helps inspire students to stay and work locally, strengthening our community for years to come.

Today, Monday, March 30, we proudly celebrated Doctors’ Day at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital, recognizing the dedication, compassion, and excellence of our physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).

Our providers go above and beyond each day to deliver high-quality care to our community, and today was an opportunity to pause and express our sincere gratitude for the impact they make in the lives of our patients and their families.

During the celebration, we were honored to present the Golden Stethoscope Award to Gavan Yates, PA-C. This special award recognizes a provider who exemplifies outstanding clinical excellence, compassionate patient care, teamwork, and a commitment to going above and beyond in service to others. It reflects the very best of what it means to be a healthcare provider.

We are honored to have partnered with TJM Community Center for the recently held Senior Citizen Appreciation Luncheon. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with members of our community and support the health and wellness of our seniors.

A special thank you to Dr. Kyles and his team for leading such an engaging discussion on balance and mobility, and to our Sentara Community Care nurses for providing blood pressure screenings and helpful educational resources.

On Tuesday, March 17, Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital proudly hosted a Lunch & Learn in recognition of Colon Cancer Awareness Month.

In partnership with South Boston YMCA and Sentara Community Care Mobile Services, we welcomed members of our community for an engaging and informative event focused on colon health and prevention.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the importance of early detection, recommended screenings, and proactive steps to support long-term wellness—all while enjoying a nutritious lunch in a welcoming environment. Additionally, those who qualified received a free, take-home colon cancer screening kit.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with our community partners and for all who joined us in prioritizing their health. Events like these reflect our shared commitment to education, prevention, and improving the well-being of the communities we serve.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of our patients, visitors, and community while the hospital operated on generator power. Our teams remained focused on maintaining safe, uninterrupted care throughout the outage.

Become a Junior Volunteer at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital!
Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is now accepting applications for the 2026 Junior Volunteer Program. This program is a wonderful opportunity for motivated and community‑minded high school students to gain experience in a healthcare setting while giving back in a meaningful way.

Program Details:
• Program dates: June 10 – July 29, 2026
• Applicants must be 14–18 years old and currently in high school
• Applications are due by May 1, 2026

Junior Volunteers support a variety of hospital departments, learn valuable skills, and make a positive impact on patients and staff throughout the summer.
