Nicole Dockery has been named the new leader of Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital. Nicole’s journey with Sentara began right here as an ICU nurse, and her dedication to patient care and passion for serving our community have helped guide her into this important leadership role.

Her commitment to improving health and supporting both patients and team members continues to make a meaningful impact across Halifax County and the surrounding region.

Sentara Community Cares staff are proud to be participating in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Women’s Conference today at the Washington Coleman Community Center.

From 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., our team is offering free wellness screenings for community members, including A1C, cholesterol, and blood pressure checks. These quick screenings are a great way to learn more about your health and take proactive steps toward wellness.

On Thursday, February 26, Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital proudly partnered with the South Boston YMCA to host our first Lunch & Learn of the year, offering FREE diabetic education to members of our community.

Attendees enjoyed a delicious heart-healthy meal while learning valuable information about managing their health and preventing complications related to diabetes. Events like these are part of our continued commitment to improving the well-being of those we serve.

We were also grateful to have Sentara Hospice, the Virginia Department of Health, and Sentara Community Care Mobile Services on site to share local resources and provide free blood pressure screenings.

Thank you to everyone who joined us! Together, we are working to help our community get healthy and stay healthy.

SHRH Celebrating Our Incredible Volunteers!

On Wednesday, February 11th, we had the honor of celebrating the dedicated Volunteers who give their time, heart, and compassion to Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital.
In 2025, our Volunteers collectively contributed 7,889 hours of service, bringing their lifetime total to over 254,000 hours of commitment to our patients, families, and staff.

We were proud to recognize 15 Volunteers with service pins, celebrating milestones ranging from 100 hours to an amazing 11,500 hours of service. Their dedication is truly inspiring, and we are grateful for the impact they make every single day.

Thank you to all our Volunteers for the kindness, energy, and support you bring to SHRH. You help make our hospital a place of comfort, compassion, and exceptional care.

We were proud to partner with Feed Halifax and the Healthy Harvest Community Garden on Saturday, February 21, in support of the Empty Bowl Fundraiser!

Events like this highlight the power of community collaboration and the importance of addressing food insecurity right here at home. It was an honor for Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital to play a small part in such a meaningful initiative.
