As we prepare for the upcoming gardening and farming season, taking steps to protect your health is just as important as preparing your soil. In this month’s Community Health Education blog, Dr. Philip Holzknecht provides valuable information on how to protect your health during the physical demands of planting, lifting, and repetitive outdoor work. His guidance highlights practical steps to help prevent common injuries and support a safe, productive season.

We invite you to read the full article and learn how to safeguard your strength and mobility while enjoying time outdoors:

We were proud to partner with Feed Halifax and the Healthy Harvest Community Garden on Saturday, February 21, in support of the Empty Bowl Fundraiser!

Events like this highlight the power of community collaboration and the importance of addressing food insecurity right here at home. It was an honor for Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital to play a small part in such a meaningful initiative.

A special thank you to Nicole Dockery, VP and Chief Nurse Executive, and Wendy Crews, Manager of Guest Services and Community Engagement, for generously volunteering their time to assist with setup, cleanup, and serving. Your leadership and commitment to our community truly make a difference.

We are grateful for opportunities to support organizations that promote health, wellness, and access to fresh, nutritious food for our neighbors.

🌟 Congratulations to Cynthia Wade! 🌟

Please join us in celebrating Cynthia Wade, ICU patient care technician, the recipient of the Honey Bee Award at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital!

The Honey Bee Award recognizes non-nursing team members who go above and beyond in their roles. Those who consistently demonstrate compassion, dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to exceptional service. Just like honey bees, these individuals work tirelessly behind the scenes to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients, families, and staff.

Cynthia truly embodies the spirit of this award. Her positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and unwavering willingness to help others make her an invaluable part of our hospital family. We are incredibly grateful for everything she does each and every day.

Congratulations, Cynthia! Thank you for your outstanding service and for being such a bright example of what the Honey Bee Award represents.
