We are grateful for the opportunity to visit House of Hope in Danville and spend time with one of our valued community partners.

House of Hope is a faith-based emergency shelter that has been serving Danville and the surrounding region for over a decade, providing a safe place to stay, warm meals, and support for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Their mission goes beyond shelter—they work closely with guests to connect them to resources and help them transition toward stable, self-sustaining lives.

Through services like housing advocacy, meals, hygiene support, and access to community resources, they are truly making a difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable members of our community.

At Sentara, we are proud to partner with organizations like House of Hope that share our commitment to improving the health and well-being of our communities. Strong partnerships like this are essential in addressing social determinants of health and creating lasting, positive change.

Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital is now accepting applications for the 2026 Junior Volunteer Program. This program is a wonderful opportunity for motivated and community‑minded high school students to gain experience in a healthcare setting while giving back in a meaningful way.
Program Details:
• Program dates: June 10 – July 29, 2026
• Applicants must be 14–18 years old and currently in high school
• Applications are due by May 1, 2026
Junior Volunteers support a variety of hospital departments, learn valuable skills, and make a positive impact on patients and staff throughout the summer.

The Sentara Community Care team was proud to participate in the Free Community Health & Wellness Fair held at the Washington Coleman Community Center on Wednesday, April 15th.
