Lund launched Pathways for New Americans in 2025, which supports entry into early childhood education through paid training, mentorship, and education. Six trainees completed the program. Four now work at Lund and one works at another local program. This program is where we met Gita, who now works in the infant room at Lund. Gita is working toward an associate degree in early childhood education. She hopes her story encourages others to take the first step.

March is Social Work Month, and we’re taking a moment to recognize the dedication and heart that social workers bring to this work every day. 🧡

To the incredible social workers on the Lund team and our partners including the Department for Children and Families—thank you. Your commitment changes lives, strengthens families, and builds a brighter future for Vermont’s children.

We're excited to expand the Kids-A-Part Parenting Program to Northern State Correctional Facility, supporting incarcerated fathers and their children and caregivers.

NSCF is excited to bring the Kids-A-Part program to our facility!

Kids-A-Part is an essential resource for children and families impacted by incarceration. The program offers enhanced case management, visitation support, and parent-child contact—including mail, phone calls, and visits in the child-friendly visiting space inside the facility. It also works closely with caregivers and community partners to promote children’s well-being.

The program has recently expanded to include incarcerated fathers at NSCF, helping strengthen family bonds and improve visitation experiences for children. Cindy and Jess are committed to ensuring these families receive the support they need, making a meaningful difference in the lives of Vermont children.

At NSCF, we recognize the importance of family connections. Through Kids-A-Part, incarcerated parents can build stronger relationships with their children while developing valuable parenting skills. Maintaining these connections benefits both parents and families, fostering positive outcomes for the community.

Join us in thanking Cindy and Jess for helping make this program possible!

Ashlee, a graduate of our Residential Treatment Program, spent a year at Lund rebuilding her life alongside her young daughter. Ashlee had lost people she loved to substance misuse—people who struggled in silence, carried shame, or feared asking for help. Their absence left a mark she couldn’t ignore. “Recover loudly so others stop dying quietly,” is a quote she kept coming back to.

Members of our management team recently spent a full day participating in Mental Health First Aid USA (MHFA) training as part of our Building a Culture of Resiliency programming.

This dedicated time together focused on building practical skills to recognize and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among peers. It’s one more way we’re strengthening our commitment to a supportive, informed, and compassionate workplace.
