🛒💛 Today was our busiest Food Pantry day in 60 years at Heart+Hand
🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻54 grocery carts filled and 143 of our neighbors fed!

We are so grateful for our volunteers and supporters who made this possible — but we need your help to keep up with the growing demand. A special thank you to Keshia, Dan, and Judy, our social services staff.

🥫 All food donations are welcome and can be dropped off Monday–Saturday, 10 AM–3 PM at 212 D St. in South Charleston.

🍎 The Food Pantry is open Monday–Thursday, 10–12 and 1–3 for those in need.

Together, we can make sure no neighbor goes hungry. ❤️

🥫The South Charleston 2025 Canned Food Drive Starts Today!🥫

The South Charleston Public Works Department is teaming up with Heart and Hand to collect canned and non-perishable food items for local families in need. Our goal this year is 5,000 cans — and we need your help to get there!

👉 Place your donations on your porch for pickup on your regular garbage/recycling day now through November 19th, or drop them off at any of these locations:

📍 South Charleston Community Center – 601 Jefferson Road
📍 Public Works Office – 1103 Jefferson Road
📍 City Hall – Corner of 4th Ave. & D Street
📍 Fire Department – All locations
📍 Police Department – 4th Ave.
📍 Public Library – 4th Avenue

Kanawha County and City of Charleston to Move Trick-or-Treat to Friday due to Weather Concerns

Charleston, WV – The Kanawha County Commission, along with the City of Charleston, have made the decision to move Trick-or-Treat to Friday, October 31st, 2025, due to expected rainy weather on Thursday.

Trick-or-Treat will now be on Halloween night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Safety is still the top priority, and we want everyone to have a fun evening.

Always walk on sidewalks, and avoid walking in the street if possible. Carry a flashlight, and only cross streets at corners. Walk in groups supervised by adults, and only visit houses with the porch light on. Accept treats at the door, and never enter a stranger’s home. Do not eat candy that looks like it’s been opened or tampered with. Drivers stay alert and be cautious of pedestrians. Drive slowly in residential areas.

Meet Stephanie, LCSW, registered Play Therapist and trained in EMDR! 🧸Steph go-to therapist for kids and teens (starting at 3yo) and she makes therapy SO 👏 MUCH 👏 FUN!

Steph combines play therapy and EMDR to help her young clients process big feelings through creativity, movement, and play.

Whether it’s building trust in the sand tray or helping kids find words for what’s hard to say, Steph brings warmth, curiosity, and a touch of magic to every session. ✨

Meet Lindy Hoeft, LCSW and EMDR Trained Therapist ✨

Lindy believes that safety is the foundation of healing. Her approach is all about creating a space where you can feel supported, seen, and truly heard as you explore your authentic self and navigate life’s challenges.

With over 20 years of experience in holistic wellness (including yoga, meditation, sound healing, and energy work) Lindy brings a grounded, integrative approach to therapy. She’s especially passionate about helping her clients move beyond old self-concepts and step into a more empowered, balanced version of themselves. 🧘

Time to Meet our Therapists! First up is our newest team member, Jessica Street, LICSW and trained EMDR therapist at The Counseling Nook.

Born and raised in WV, Jessica now lives in Missouri but loves serving West Virginians through online therapy. She’s EMDR Certified and specializes in trauma-informed care, helping clients discover what truly works for them.

She’s in-network with PEIA UMR insurance, and BCBS coming soon!
