The holidays can bring up so many layers of emotions from: comfort, grief, joy, tension, nostalgia, and memories we didn’t expect to feel again.

If stepping into old spaces or family dynamics stirs something in you, you’re not alone.

Be gentle with yourself this week.

And if therapy is something you want to explore in 2026, we’re here when you’re ready.

Update: www.facebook.com/groups/spinetinglersbookclub/

If we were to start a third book club in 2026 (in addition to Plot Twist Book Club that covers mysteries/thrillers and Read with Pride Book Club that is LGBTQ+ focused), what genres or themes would you be interested in?

Dawn has gathered some ideas (banned books, West Virginia/Appalachia, historical fiction, horror, bios/memoirs, food and travel, classics, true crime, etc.), but she'd like more input before making a decision!

Comment below, so that we can take a tally, please!

The weather in Charleston has been pretty UGH this week. Grey, cold, and not exactly uplifting! Going into winter can be hard on all of us, and if you’re feeling it, you’re not alone. You’re doing better than you think.

At The Counseling Nook, we support kids (age 3+), teens, and adults, in person and through telehealth anywhere in West Virginia. And if we’re not the right fit, we’ll always help you find someone who is.

We’re here for you, even on the grey days. 💛

It is incredible how something small, like a tea tag, a familiar scent, a song, can bring a loved one’s memory right back to the surface. Grief often appears in these quiet, unexpected moments.

In therapy, we talk about how the body holds our stories. Those little signs are not random. They are reminders connected to the same neural pathways that carry our love and our loss.

EMDR therapy can help these moments feel less overwhelming. It does not erase your memories. It helps your nervous system hold them with more calm and clarity. ❤️

If a small moment reminded you of someone you miss, you are not alone. We are here to support you through every part of your healing.

It’s one of the hardest topics for parents to even think about, but talking openly about suicide doesn’t make it more likely to happen. It makes it safer to talk about.

Join us for a free, judgment-free conversation designed to help parents feel more confident, informed, and supported.
