A little information about hernia's

Hernia's can be repaired through minimally invasive techniques.

Symptoms Of Inguinal Hernia

An inguinal hernia occurs when a small part of the intestines bulges through a weak spot in the abdominal muscles. This weak spot is usually in the groin area.

Inguinal hernias are most commonly seen in men. This is because the male anatomy includes a small passageway, called the inguinal canal, which runs from the abdomen to the sc***um. This canal contains the s***matic cord, which is made up of the vas deferens (the tube that carries s***m from the testicles) and other blood vessels and nerves.

The inguinal canal is lined with a layer of tissue called the transversus abdominis. Inguinal hernias occur when this layer of tissue is weak or tears.

Symptoms of an inguinal hernia can include:

- A bulge in the area on either side of your p***c bone, which becomes more obvious when you're upright, especially if you cough or strain
- A burning or aching sensation at the bulge
- Pain or discomfort in your groin, especially when bending over, coughing or lifting
- A heavy or dragging sensation in your groin
- Weakness or pressure in your groin
- Occasionally, pain and swelling around the testicles when the protruding intestine descends into the sc***um

There are two types of inguinal hernias:

Indirect inguinal hernia: This type of hernia occurs when the intestines bulge through the inguinal canal. This type of hernia is more common in men.

Direct inguinal hernia: This type of hernia occurs when the intestines bulge through a hole in the abdominal wall. This type of hernia is more common in women.

Inguinal hernias can be either unilateral (on one side) or bilateral (on both sides).

Most inguinal hernias are small and cause no symptoms. However, some hernias can become large and cause pain and discomfort.

If the hernia is small and not causing any symptoms, it can often be left untreated. However, if the hernia is large or causing symptoms, it will usually need to be surgically repaired.

If you have any of these symptoms, it is important to see a doctor so that the hernia can be diagnosed and treated.

If an inguinal hernia is not treated, it can lead to serious complications, such as:

-Strangulation: This occurs when the hernia becomes trapped and the blood supply to the intestines is cut off. This is a medical emergency and can be fatal if not treated immediately.

-Incarceration: This occurs when the hernia becomes trapped and cannot be pushed back into the abdomen. This is a medical emergency and can be fatal if not treated immediately.

-Obstruction: This occurs when the hernia blocks the intestines and prevents food and stool from passing through. This can cause severe abdominal pain and can be fatal if not treated immediately.

If you have an inguinal hernia, it is important to see a doctor so that the hernia can be diagnosed and treated.
