We pride ourselves on being able to offer partners the option to stay together when the need for Memory Care arises. Darlene and Roger are excellent examples of this, living together in Memory Care because being separated just wasn’t an option. Now, they can enjoy life while having the safety and care that our community offers.

Today was such a special day at our community recognizing our resident veterans with the help of Gentiva Hospice. Gentiva led a ceremony that included reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, signing of the Star Spangled Banner, pinning of veterans and veteran spouses, followed by prayer, and refreshments. We also unveiled our brand new Veteran Wall which features photos of all six of our current veterans.

Thank you to Gentiva Hospice for partnering with us for this special ceremony.

Also a big thank you to Christen Peneschi with Take Off Your Lens Cap Photography for capturing today's event and for the portraits on the wall.

Today, we come together to recognize and honor the brave men and women among our Memory Care residents who have served in the military. On this Veterans Day, we acknowledge their sacrifices, heroism, and the dedication they displayed while serving our nation.

As members of our community, each veteran carries unique stories and experiences that continue to inspire those around them. We encourage families, staff, and fellow residents to take a moment to celebrate these individuals, sharing their stories and expressing gratitude for their service.

Let us foster an environment of respect and appreciation, ensuring that these remarkable veterans feel valued and remembered, not only today but every day. Together, we honor their legacy.

Pictured is Margie expressing her gratitude to Ray, an Airforce Veteran, for his service to our country before lunch today. Even in Memory Care, the recognition of duty and service is not lost on us.

At tomorrow’s Memory Cafè, we will have a presentation about Long Term Care Insurance and Veteran Benefits. Come on out to the South Elgin Public Works building for some pizza, resources, and meaningful connections!

If you are a caregiver for someone with memory impairment, come join us. We are averaging 50+ people monthly. Bring your loved one or, if they cannot make it, you are welcome to come alone. It is connecting time with others who are going thru the same thing. We hope to see you there. Just a fun hour and a half of talking and socializing.
