Hiring Special Education Teacher
Location: Brooktondale, NY
Employment Type: Full-time (45 hours)
Contract Duration: 5 years
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our team and provide high-quality instructional support to students with disabilities. This role requires a strong understanding of state and federal regulations, expertise in developing individualized learning plans, and a commitment to helping students succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and accommodations under 504 plans
• Provide targeted interventions and collaborate with general education teachers
• Maintain accurate and detailed logs of student progress and consultant notes
• Assist with referrals for CSE meetings, BIPs, and FBAs
• Draft, update, and finalize IEPs/504 plans based on assessments and stakeholder feedback
• Lead and actively participate in CSE meetings while presenting required documentation
• Manage compliance paperwork for annual and tri-annual reviews
• Maintain consistent communication with parents and guardians to support student growth
• Apply evidence-based teaching strategies to improve learning outcomes
• Utilize effective classroom management techniques to foster a structured, supportive environment
• Follow all school security protocols and confidentiality standards
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Special Education
• Valid Special Education Teacher Certification (Grades 7-12 or equivalent)
• 1–3 years of professional experience in special education
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Experience working in structured settings with at-risk youth is a plus
