We are proud to recognize Ruby Clark as a 2026 Rising Leader Award recipient.

Ruby is the Founder and CEO of RUBY’S VISION INC. in Paterson. A woman in long-term recovery, she brings both lived experience and more than 30 years of professional service in health care, public health, and community safety to her work.

Under her leadership, RUBY’S VISION INC. operates a resource center and low-barrier drop-in center that provide peer support, harm reduction supplies, food, clothing, referrals, and transportation to medical, treatment, and social service appointments. Weekly street outreach ensures continued connection to individuals in surrounding neighborhoods.

Ruby also partners with the Paterson Housing Alliance and co-leads the Code Blue transportation initiative, helping protect vulnerable residents during extreme weather conditions.

Her dedication, compassion, and action-driven leadership reflect the true meaning of the Rising Leader Award. We look forward to honoring her at RECO2026 on March 5 at Seton Hall University.

Here’s a sneak peek at one of our powerful keynote sessions at the 7th Annual Recovery Ecosystems Conference on March 5, 2026 at Seton Hall University.

Dr. David Best will take us inside the global evidence behind recovery capital and what it really takes to move from research to real-world impact. This keynote will explore how peer support, community connection, and system-level collaboration can drive long-term recovery outcomes — and how we intentionally build stronger recovery ecosystems across individuals, organizations, and communities.

The conversation doesn’t stop there. Throughout the day, breakout sessions like Recovery Housing 101, Healing-Centered Leadership: Moving Beyond Burnout, and Reimagining the Role of Narcotics Anonymous Within Modern Recovery Ecosystems will bring these ideas to life with practical strategies and real-world application.

If you care about building systems that don’t just talk about change but actually create it, this is a session you’ll want to be in the room for.

Registration is open.

Who We Are

Around the country, communities of recovery have come together to bring additional, improved resources for recovery support services to their states and communities. Now is the time for the New Jersey Recovery Community to stand together and ensure that the expansion of recovery support services in the state is driven by the recovery community.

It is not enough for peers to be front line workers in recovery support. Individuals in recovery should be empowered to take the lead in developing, implementing, and governing these services. By coming together, we strengthen our voice to ensure we are heard by decision-makers, collateral service providers, and, most importantly, individuals struggling with substance use disorders and their loved ones.

CARS is supported through funding awarded to Prevention Links by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) through the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA), which was signed into law by President Obama in 2016. Building Communities of Recovery (BCOR) is a three-year initiative designed to mobilize resources within and outside of the recovery community to increase the prevalence and quality of long-term recovery support from substance use disorders.
