👏 WONDERFUL NEWS. A federal court just sent a clear message to health insurers: mental health coverage must be treated equally. ⚖️

A parent fought back after BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois denied coverage for her child's residential behavioral health treatment — citing a "wilderness program" exclusion and a 24-hour nursing requirement that didn't apply to comparable medical facilities.

The court refused to dismiss the case.

Here's why that matters:

The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) exists for exactly this reason — to ensure insurers can't hold mental health treatment to a stricter standard than medical or surgical care.
